π’ New paper out!
Cetacean strandings in Scotland have risen 125% over the past 30 years. Our study gives the first comprehensive picture of when, where, and which species strand, providing a baseline to guide conservation.

Found this bottle on a paddle out of Falmouth this morning. Looked up the company as I didnβt recognize it. Turns out they ceased manufacturing in 1982 π€―π© meaning this bottle is *AT LEAST* 43 years old π₯²

This week I returned to my PhD after an 8month fellowship within Defraβs Marine and Fisheries science and evidence team.
Incredibly grateful for the experience and insight. Returning to my own research with renewed perspective on the science-policy interface.

'five types of plastics were identified: pellets, foam, fragments, sheet and threads' a close-up image of microplastics on a cloth is in a circle in the centre of the page. 'The highest proportion of contamination was found in the mediterranean (80%).'
New collaborative study finds 45% of sampled marine turtle nesting beaches worldwide are contaminated by microplastics.
