I know how nostalgic it is for so many people, but watching it for the first time this summer was like getting run over by the '90s. Loved it, truly the vibiest of shows.

Yes this is dire, yes it is also funny that all of my team (including my boss) chose to take the "AI in Education" professional development course because it'd be easy and we wouldn't have to pay attention.

Long live the blow-off course, in all its glory.

My true worry is that this will hold in some districts because the middle class have successfully built a wall around their school districts.

In poorer areas, AI is 100% gonna be used as a cost-saving tool, despite it being unacceptable to wealthier people (and regardless of educational worth).

Honestly, I don't think my district will, because parents expect pretty explicit teaching about reading, writing, researching, etc. The expectation is their kid will have a human teacher giving personal feedback and designing curriculum tailored their students.

I hope my district doesn't go hard enough into AI that I have to learn it just to keep my head down.

It wouldn't be hard because all of these "tools" are a way to avoid thinking and understanding. Operating the No Thinking machine might take half an afternoon.

One of the reasons why I'm connecting to Journal with Witch (specifically Makio) so much is I also have a friend group of people I've known for 23 years who are incredibly patient with me.

I think, episode to episode, it is nearly impossible to explain why something is happening, what side who is on, etc. That narrator is doing heroic work trying to explain that story.
