11.12.2025 22:09 β π 1 π 0 π¬ 0 π 0What is your preferred Zombie Apocalypse vehicle?
For me, it would be a 4-wheel drive Mercedes Sprinter van, suitably modified.
Or, if the zombies make it difficult to get fuel, then maybe a more economical 4-wheel drive, modded Kei van.
My wife had a '90s GEO Prizm. Automatic and burgundy just like this one. The Prizm was a rebadged Toyota Corolla sold at GM dealers. Eventually we gave it to my sister but first I took it to a track day at Lime Rock and beat the snot out of it. Ran great for my sister another 3 years. Durable car

Best to both of you!
(our anniversary was Dec 8).
My '92 Ford Escort GT was a neat endurance racer. Ran in numerous 3 and 4 hour events...plus a couple at night.
Had a nice Mazda twin cam with 5 speed. I got it as a freebie from a relative and built it into a club racer. Not fast but predictable and easy to drive. Should have kept it but no space
There was a time when you could pick up a decent 996 for less than $20,000 USD (17,200 Euro). A good friend of mine bought an excellent one with a factory replaced engine for $15,000.
Alas, everyone has figured out that these are really nice cars, and the "fried egg" headlights deal is nonsense.
I'm looking at the third one (black car) with the nose sticking up.
And with drum front brakes.
Wonder what it is?
OK. That's badass. π
10.12.2025 00:15 β π 1 π 0 π¬ 0 π 0I would call this throw-a-tarp-over-a-golf-cart styling.
09.12.2025 21:23 β π 1 π 0 π¬ 0 π 0Yes. Mine was a originally a tan car with a tan grill (and chrome surround).
I've seen all-chrome grills but not sure if they are factory.
Some racers paint a checkered-flag motif and some will do the grill all-black.
Lovely.
Here's my blue A35 at Lime Rock race track.

I'm often on-track with 3 Cortinas. This red one has the Mann look (the other 2 are white or tan).

Nice! Ideal color for a Sprite/Midget. I brush painted my 1st Mk1 Sprite (aka-"Bugeye" or "Frogeye") green over 50 years ago. As we say, it was a "20 footer". See old photo of me racing it at New Egypt Speedway.

Something else to add to the bucket list. π
You're right. For fast zombies, I'll stick with my 718 Cayman. π
08.12.2025 21:47 β π 0 π 0 π¬ 2 π 0Easy. In my case, not theoretical. I drove it today.
My extended wheelbase GMC Savana cargo van.
155 inch wheelbase (3.94 meters)
Total overall length is 244 inches (6.2 meters).
It's my cold-weather daily driver (minus the trailer except during racing season).π
Winter is coming. It was 15F (-9C) here this morning. Time to start looking at the ultimate zombie apocalypse vehicle.
The HΓ€gglund bv 206.
One of my racing pals has one of these on his farm. All four tracks are driven. Ideal for Antarctica or the Yukon or just for showing off in New Jersey.
Foreground: tan 1941 Aeronca L3 tailwheel airplane. Background: white 1988 Toyota Celica
My '88 Toyota Celica with my Aeronca L3. The Celica was given to me by a friend-of-a friend. Was a 5 speed in nice shape but had a bad motor. I bought a junkyard motor for it ($200). Drove it 8 years
Weird fact: I casually knew the gal who gave it to me but never realized we had the same last name!

I know the feeling. I learned to race at Bridgehampton which is now a golf course

The Pitt-Race race track (neat Pittsburgh & formerly BeaveRun) has been sold to Amazon & will be converted to a data center. Built around 2003, it has had many recent track-centered upgrades. It's surrounded by cheap land that is available. Local Pittsburgh races are devastated.

03.12.2025 01:26 β π 18 π 3 π¬ 1 π 0A week. I bought this MG Midget from the mayor of our town (actually, his estate-he was dead). I titled it to myself the same day to make sure sale was legit. Within a week I towed it to my brother's house where he bought it from me (he was looking for one). I bought it back from him 9 years later.
