7/13 Multiple scientists whose papers were cited slammed the report for misrepresenting their findings.
Ben Santer said it "contradicted his findings while citing his research." It was debunked within a day of release.

Evidence That Humans Changed the Climate is Being Erased
Livermore Lab’s Ben Santer spent decades tracing humanity’s imprint on the atmosphere. Now, the data behind his work is under attack.

If we don’t solve the massive “free-to-pollute” fossil fuel subsidy (IMF: $700B/yr in U.S.), there’s no pathway to climate safety. Period. Once you put a price (penalty) on pollution, that is when innovation happens, because it has a revenue proposition.

The Antarctic sea ice winter peak continues to get smaller and smaller.
We need to stop burning #FossilFuel.
Time for a fee on the extraction of #FossilFuel. Then give that revenue back to you.

What we achieved by passing and protecting the IRA
Compared to a world in which the IRA never became law, we’ll save about 1 billion tons of carbon dioxide pollution over the next decade.
Many of the Inflation Reduction Act's climate measures are expiring soon.
But while they were in place, they put us on track to save about 1 billion tons of carbon dioxide pollution over the next decade!
"Every ton of avoided carbon pollution makes a difference," says @dananuccitelli.bsky.social.

Outlandishly amplified jet stream for August. Widespread 50s for morning lows in Midwest, Ohio Valley & Northeast. Taste of false fall! Even some relief in the deep south! Nope, not you Florida.
Meanwhile in NW Canada a big heat dome w/ temps 30F + above normal, highs in the 90s near the Tundra.

A graphic with an icon of the sun, a wiggly line denoting natural cycles, and a volcano, with a title reading "WHY is climate changing?" created by me. Not fancy, as my graphic design skills lean to function over art!
Scientists who study climate don't automatically attribute all changes to human activity. Rather, we carefully investigate every possible natural factor that could explain the planet's warming.
Could these be the real culprits?
The evidence is in--and the answer is NO.
This thread explains! 🧵

Hi jrg,
Sorry for the slow response.... Lots of Summer vacays, including my own.
I've also missed a few meeting reminder emails.
I will look into recording the Zoom meetings and getting them on our website.
Thank!

(I think we can call it global warming again.)
We can still supercharge the reduction in #FossilFuel use.
Establish a fee on the extraction of all #FossilFuel. And raise that fee every month.
Give that money back to EVERYONE to adjust to the change.

"As the climate warms, new data shows huge swaths of land across the globe are quickly drying, threatening humanity’s supply of fresh water."
Today's NYTimes has a story about Iran running out of water.
The threat of #climatechange to civilization is terrifying. Yet we only fight and bicker.

A different way of practicing politics is possible - where we vigorously fight for what’s right while inviting people into our coalition, rather than pushing them away.

I'm pretty sure we all new this before it became official.
#climatechange is killing us everywhere and we have done SO little to prevent it.
Idea: charge a fee when fossil fuels are extracted from earth, and give the money back to everyone as a dividend!

As Antarctic sea ice shrinks, iconic emperor penguins are in more peril than we thought
Emperor penguin populations are falling much faster than expected. Ice is melting beneath their chicks before they’re ready.
We could loose emperor penguins unless we address urgently the cause of human induced climate change. #Antarctica is not immune & wars are as much carbon bombs as actual bombs.
How would explain such a catastrophe to your grandkids?

I think the chaos has already started.
We can supercharge all efforts to fight #climatechange with a carbon fee and dividend.
The Midwest and Southern states are getting clobbered by tornados this Spring... And next: hurricanes.
Republicans need to wake up.

I love when places give priority parking to low emissions vehicles (esp when people will idle in their cars near where other people are breathing).

Amid warmer-than-usual temperatures, parts of the UK are under "severe" wildfire warnings from the Met Office.
Wildfires in Scotland this weekend. It's been a very dry start to the spring in the UK with several similar fires across the country in the last week. Remarkable to think this is a growing climate risk in the UK of all places, but here we are.
