I would maybe also ring the local social services, ask for their advice on best route forward. Most councils have a team called adult early help or something like that. They are a first point of contact for queries before formal “social care” gets involved

Or to look at something called an MCA- mental capacity assessment. Speak to GP about it in first instance as it could also be a safeguarding issue if medication is being got wrong etc

I would suggest if you believe the person lacks capacity to manage decisions on healthcare then you may need to think about power of attorney
