We are get lots of interesting birds in our Copmanthorpe garden at the moment. The latest is a redpoll, we had siskins a couple of years ago but this is the new addition to our garden list @yorkbirding.bsky.social @northyorksbirds.bsky.social

Another new visitor to our bird feeder in Copmanthorpe this afternoon, a goldcrest. It was very gloomy and photo taken through a window, so not great @northyorksbirds.bsky.social @yorkbirding.bsky.social

We had a new visitor to the garden this week, a female blackcap and today we saw a Treecreeper at Askham Bog @yorkbirding.bsky.social

I saw a bittern yesterday for the first time at North Cave, it was skulking in the reeds then the wind blew and I got a view of his head @yorkbirding.bsky.social @northcavebirds.bsky.social

Went again this morning and the siskin flock was again in trees near the pond, this time I heard redpolls as well. Also heard / saw:
Jay
Mistle thrush
Treecreeper
Song thrush

Went to Askham Bog this afternoon and the siskins are back! Only saw a few once last winter but today there were 50+ feeding in the tops of the alder trees, winter us coming @yorkbirding.bsky.social

House martens gathering together, they will soon be heading south

Several bitterns were booming at St Aidan’s this afternoon. Didn’t see any of them though. @yorkbirding.bsky.social

Did the RSPB Big Garden Birdwatch this afternoon and had 3 greenfinches in a conifer tree in our garden, they are regular visitors to our feeders.
