Alt Text by @witchpunkleha.bsky.social [Panel 1] “Oh no, Akko has behaved splendidly, here, and in… Luna Nova–” Diana tries to defend Akko from her mom’s snarkiness, although everyone can tell from her face she’s not convinced by her own words. [Panel 2] “–so there is no reason to be worried about that.” Like this was going to convince the woman who educated that troublemaker. At least she is softened by Diana’s innocence. [Panel 3] With a big smile, Akito answers to Diana’s blatant attempt at shielding Akko from more nagging “Thank you for taking care of her, Diana-san. We are very grateful.” “More that you are willing to lie in her name, we know the trouble she gets herself into.” Adds her mom, putting an end to the charade. [Panel 4] Diana is embarrassed to have been caught, but that’s what you get for meddling in a daughter-mother discussion. “P-please be sure to enjoy your vacation and don’t worry about your daughter’s well-being.” She assures, even if she can’t meet their eye right now.

[Panel 5] No more joking around, the mother’s traits adopt a more sincere and saddened expression, she starts apologizing : “Akko, we are very sorry you couldn’t come with us on the cruise. Next break we’ll take you camping to compensate, we promise.” [Panel 6] But her daughter’s also more understanding than she let on. “Nah, I know. I’m glad you did. It’s been a while since the last time you went on vacation just the two of you.” She candidly replies. [Panel 7] “But I’ll take the camping as compensation.” She cheerfully adds, this heartfelt moment won’t stop her from negotiating !

[Panel 8] The mom’s gaze shifts to Diana as she addresses her. “Do you often go camping, Diana-san ?” [Panel 9] Diana didn’t expect to be asked about her hobbies and a bit surprised, she immediately answers “Oh ! I can't say that I do, not at all.” [Panel 10] Akko’s dad is scheming. “Oh, then that gives me an idea–”

[Panel 11] “–why don’t you bring Diana to Japan next time ?” He joyfully offers. [Panel 12] “Hey, stop bothering Diana ! She has lots of things to do !” Akko takes it like another joke, and tries to start bickering again, after all, this is a bit ridiculous, going to her home country with Diana, to go camping ? That’s too much ! But she’s too busy shouting at her phone to notice Diana has her word to say. “That would be…” [Panel 13] The pause in her answer is filled with emotions, her finger starts fidgeting on her leg. She was considering it, and she finds it “...lovely.”

Day 05 part 4/

Her mom calls her Atsuko cuz she knows she doesn't like it, but when stuff gets serious, it's Akko. Also, the parents have already clocked how much Diana CaresTM.

[Panel 2] Suddenly, the parents turn their head away from the phone as something catches their attention. [Panel 3] “Sorry, Atsuko. We have to leave, there is an event about to start we signed up for.” Akito takes the phone closer to his face as he tries to wrap things up. [Panel 4] “We’ll call you later.” He concludes as his wife shoves herself in front of the screen “Don’t get yourself in too much trouble. And make a good Kagari impression in that household!” She excitedly adds.

[Panel 5] And the call ends, leaving Akko and Diana facing the phone wallpaper of their group friend all dirty and hugging after saving the world from the missile (Akko did her best to organize all her apps in the little amount of free space she had to not ruin the photo), the two of them at the center of this picture, wide smiles on their faces. [Panel 6] Akko puts away her phone and feels the whiplash of Diana meeting her parents. Cringing, she immediately tries to apologize “Sorry that they were bothering you with all these questions.” Diana also feels somewhat out of the water here and presents excuses back. “Not at all, I’m sorry for agreeing without thinking.”

[Panel 7] Akko waves her hand dismissively to try to reassure Diana. “Ah, nah, don’t worry about it. They probably didn’t really mean it, so you don’t have to worry about that. They like messing with me.” [Panel 8] “...Right.” Diana scratches her neck in discomfort, the possibility she was the only one giving a serious thought on it is… bothering her.

[Panel 9] Akko springs up and stretches, glad this conversation comes to its end. “Well, now that that’s done…” [Panel 10] “...you think Anna has lunch already ?” she says, not even waiting for an answer from the still sitting Diana to walk towards the manor, followed by her loyal canine companion. [Panel 11] Diana lovingly scratches her dog’s ears, with a bittersweet expression on her face. Oh well, what can she do about it ?
