"The Running Man" is the second movie I've seen this year that I would unqualifiedly describe as perfectly executed filmmaking.

14.11.2025 02:41 β π 3 π 0 π¬ 1 π 0The Pixel version probably is one of the better ones, but most of the time I'm using it to remove my nametag and company logo from pics taken in uniform, which is probably easy mode for the model.
13.11.2025 23:01 β π 1 π 0 π¬ 0 π 0(I guess I should qualify that I mean AI running off a data center remotely somewhere, my GPU does have cool machine learning "AI" features that are actually great but those are all local and not energy intensive.)
13.11.2025 21:01 β π 1 π 0 π¬ 1 π 0the singular thing I do find it convenient for is the magic erase feature on my phone, which is nice, but also something I could absolutely do without if needed. Everything else I've tried it for it's either bad at or there's no practical use for.
13.11.2025 20:59 β π 1 π 0 π¬ 1 π 0Also if you're using mobile web there's absolutely no point in setting that PIN right now because the actual interface for DMs after this update once you get past that is completely broken.
13.11.2025 08:32 β π 1 π 0 π¬ 0 π 0It didn't send to anyone. The script just assumes that once you've opened and closed the DM that you've sent something.
13.11.2025 08:31 β π 1 π 0 π¬ 1 π 0It's also interesting that in some respects the expectations for a sponsor are more rigorous than the expectations for a confirmand. Like the Church wants the sacrament to be accessible, but wants you to have the strongest supports you can as you prepare for it.
13.11.2025 05:41 β π 2 π 0 π¬ 0 π 0Anyway it's funny that it's Strickland bringing this stuff up because while the situation these men are in is pretty irregular and they probably shouldn't be taking communion, Strickland's situation is functionally schismatic and merits formal excommunication.
(That's worse.)
AND
"To perform the function of sponsor, a person must....be a catholic....who lives a life of faith which befits the role to be undertaken; not labour under a canonical penalty, whether imposed or declared."(Canons 874 and 893)
Literally no way to square this with your civil spouse as sponsor.
BUT
Can. 892 "Insofar as possible, there is to be a sponsor for the person to be confirmed; the sponsor is to take care that the confirmed person behaves as a true witness of Christ and faithfully fulfills the obligations inherent in this sacrament."
Can. 890 says "pastors....are to take care that the faithful are properly instructed to receive the sacrament and come to it at the appropriate time."
My amateur read of these canons together would say that the pastor should've discouraged, but not refused, confirmation in this circumstance.
Canon 885 indicates those who "properly and reasonably seek it" should be given confirmation. An adult Catholic who is not yet confirmed arguably fits this, though Can. 889 indicates the confirmand should be "suitably instructed, properly disposed, and able to renew the baptismal promises".
13.11.2025 05:32 β π 1 π 0 π¬ 1 π 0BTW this situation came up on my feed on the bird site, a few things I noted:
-anchor was a lapsed Catholic, not a candidate for full communion, so diffirent requirements
-confirmation itself should've been discouraged but probably was permissible
-gay partner as sponsor is COMPLETELY impermissible
That man is overdue for excommunication.
