Core Consumer Price Index leaves out food and fuel from inflation predictions. Too volatile!! Well duh.
So while the rest of us know prices are going up, experts say inflation at 2.5% or some such nonsense.

Last bird flu meant destruction of whole flocks. Chicken farming is a multimillion $ operation ruled by big companies. Small farms sell to big suppliers. If buyers suspect sickness, the whole farm shut off. Chicken, the cheap alternative to expensive beef, will get pricier.
