Core Consumer Price Index leaves out food and fuel from inflation predictions. Too volatile!! Well duh.
So while the rest of us know prices are going up, experts say inflation at 2.5% or some such nonsense.

Lawyer, writer, gardener, quiet observer of the human condition which continues to surprise me for good and ill.

Hooray for the BBC lawyers who sent a nicely worded letter politely saying โSorry about your boo-boo Mr. President.
But seriously do you really think we hurt your feelings or your ratings?
Only pounds will be coming from cheeseburgers.โ
Traders have always reminded me of a big flock of birds. One
smells smoke makes them take flight.
Sometimes thereโs a fire. Sometimes not and the flock goes back to fluffing their feathers and preening.
Epstein files of mega importance. But more so is getting out SNAP benefits so kids have food on the table.
Walk and chew gum Dems. You must. Lives depend on it.
Risotto is a furrin food so suspect.
Other side was sharing borscht recipes so yawn.
Our allies must be gobsmacked on a regular basis. What is wrong with us?

Opus sums up the Dem Party beautifully for me today.
Stopping SNAP didnโt do it. Stopping layoff of fed workers didnโt do it. โNecessaryโ employees working without pay didnโt do it.
But oh my not being able to fly home for Thanksgiving??
That did it.
Eight senators led by Schumer standing in the shadows compromised (in all definitions of compromise)
The promise from GOP is a โhoney I promise never to hit you again if you come homeโ sort of promise.

I like Jeh Johnson and would trust him to direct me to ladies room at Walmart.
But.
If Dems fold and open government before a deal reached, ACA is gone. Reneging is their way of doing business.
I feel cheated that the Age of Aquarius we were promised is the Age of Perilous.
08.11.2025 20:15 โ ๐ 1 ๐ 0 ๐ฌ 0 ๐ 0No sensible human being would let Speaker Johnson direct them to the bathrooms at Walmart. The Dems are wise to turn a deaf ear to his pandering/groveling/I havenโt read that/Sgt Schultz imitation (I know nothing. Nothing!).

The musical chairs music is going to stop. And there arenโt enough chairs for 90% of us.
WWOD?
What would Obama do?
WWBD?
What would Biden do?
I agree with Jeh Johnson brinksmanship needs to end.
Stalling the appointment of a Supreme Court justice by Mitch was brinkmanship. Dems folded.
Here we are again. Dems being
urged to fold again.
Which should they sacrifice-food or health care?
JD Vance has the charisma of license bureau clerk.
Good luck queuing him up for head guy.
Last bird flu meant destruction of whole flocks. Chicken farming is a multimillion $ operation ruled by big companies. Small farms sell to big suppliers. If buyers suspect sickness, the whole farm shut off. Chicken, the cheap alternative to expensive beef, will get pricier.

As much as volunteer organizations may want to replace SNAP, it can only be done for a very foreseeable future. Through Christmas?
