Every once in a while I like to remind people of these rules of thumb. Before you reply:
-did you read the whole post?
-did you check to see if it’s part of a thread and if what you’re about to say has already been covered?
-have several people already made the same point/comment/joke?
lol, "KI ersetzt nicht die Arbeit der Menschen" aber will zB. Bild-Tool einbauen, was die Arbeit von Künstler*innen wegnimmt? Okok. :D

The bowl is placed on a rustic wooden surface. Above the bowl, there is a thought bubble drawn in black, indicating that the cookies might be "thinking" about something. The thought bubble is empty.
"speculative thinking"

i'm v excited for the meeting this week. i'm meeting with 2 #deafblind interpreters to outline the framework for workshops and learn more about their interpreting logistics and deafblind assistance.
workshops are part of the art exhibition with deafblind individuals, which I am curating. ✨#DeafArt
"also"??
this only reinforces the notion that being deaf is primarily a negative condition.
and this comes from a Deaf educational company with significant reach and attention in Austria, sigh.

in public relations, u often see the framing "there are ALSO advantages to being deaf!"
aside from the fact that these "advantages" even need to be marketed in order for the society to let go of its outdated view...

To be explicit, the problem with using "able-bodied" when you mean "non-Disabled" is it has an implied erasure of Disabled people whose conditions/diagnoses/"impairments" are primarily mental, emotional, cognitive, etc. Brain-based.
Not something you can outwardly observe at a distance.

i really missed connecting with #Deaf people after the transition from Twitter to X, especially since not many made it to Mastodon. now, i’m trying to be (more) active on here.
i’ve noticed how important it is for empowerment to read about the experiences and activities of other #Deaf individuals.🫶

21.01.2025 15:34 — 👍 1 🔁 0 💬 1 📌 0It frustrates me even more that the #deafblind community is so often overlooked, especially when it comes to contrast. Just think about subtitles—why would anyone assume that white text without a background bar is #accessible?

I know I’m writing from a place of privilege because I’ve taught myself all of this, but I also just have an instinctive sense for accessible media design and aesthetics.
But if you choose a light blue background, surely white text isn’t going to work ??? How does one not see that???
i often shake my head at how poorly #Accessibility is handled in Instagram posts and digital posters - tiny fonts, bad contrasts, awkward spacing... often by those aiming to reach the disability community. 🫠
