If I really like a games characters I’ll go out of my way to look up compilations of dialogue and I can’t get enough even if it’s literal hours. If I bounce off of them it becomes really hard to even finish. Like a road trip with an annoying sibling.

I enjoyed how DA: Inquisition would weave in inter party conflicts and arcs into banter. It made me want to take different combos of character that normally wouldn’t mess with. For me I don’t think it’s about the amount of banter. It’s about do I like characters and the humor at all.

Ngl, the reason I wanted to finally read Ruslan and Ludmila by Alexander Pushkin was because I wanted to know what the heck was going on in these Gennady Novozhilov illustrations. It did not disappoint.

The thing that bg3 finds is the same thing a good DM finds, which is smart thematic threads between these opposite ideas (without getting to spoilers) . Emphasizing some stuff but completely ignoring other stuff. But with FR, the most things are in the sandbox the more contradictions get revealed

These are just diametrical opposite world views on the nature of the universe. Which is why I think more lore doesn’t usually help people. The question of “what’s going are here?” is almost always: everything all the time.

Then we have Infernal devils who derive from Catholicism. And in that faith,cosmic beings both good and evil care SO much about your actions they keep track of your sins at all times. Your free will is very real. No matter how powerful the devil is you have to consent to have a deal.

Hey thanks! I do think in some ways with FR the problem is deeper than lore. I think it’s the issue of wanting to have every world view and idea inside its sandbox. Example: the Illithids are Lovecraftian. Stories were humans are tiny, cosmic beings rule but don’t care, free will is an illusion.
