One of the interesting aspects of Erikson’s theory is that it sees stages as being renegotiated at every phase. What you describe is more like the Freudian theory, on which Erikson based his theory.

Good point! Thanks for asking! No specific reason. I think that I often consider our first-year students (18-year-olds) rather immature, more children than adults, and our third- or fourth-year ones more mature. But critical perspective does not have ages, now that I think about it!
