Really interesting use of AI in addressing access challenges in healthcare
Providing an environment where safe innovation like this can happen, be evaluated and if successful rolled out wider feels essential for the future of the NHS

Our policies have always been more radical than Corbyn's
We should not retreat into a Left ideological ghetto but should invite everybody to vote for a sustainable and peaceful future with the Green Party

This is an executive order that lays the groundwork for sending homeless people and people with mental illness to concentration camps to be "civilly committed." It was never going to stop with immigrants.
This is horrifying beyond words.

The utter lack of competence on display here isn't the greatest advert for parliament

22.07.2025 20:04 β π 0 π 0 π¬ 0 π 0Comments like these are deeply worrying. It is a fact that far right thugs were rioting at the scene. Farage, through his rhetoric, is giving them cover IMHO. It is notable that despite the UK cracking down on peaceful protesters, it is reluctant to ban or arrest far right ones.

I wonder if anyone has considered whether this is actively discriminatory?

Love this piece about the power and value of vulnerability
Important in politics as we see the rise of narcissistic authoritarians
But in leadership more widely where being vulnerable sets a tone for work cultures creating safe and productive spaces

We've moved a long way from the extreme paternalistic models of the past but clearly still have much further to go before we put this knowledge on a par with medical expertise

For me, the emphasis on allyship and actively role-modeling greater gender equality truly stands out. It's clear that fostering an inclusive environment requires collective effort and visible commitment.

This crucial report on gender in the PR profession sheds light on the significant challenges women continue to face. While many of the issues may not be new, the report offers powerful insights into actionable steps we can take.

Men's Health Week: Around 30% of those who register with NHS Practitioner Health are men. This is not because men donβt struggle with mental illness or addiction. It is because stigma gets in the way. Cultural ideas and outdated notions of masculinity still tell men that they must βman upβ, keep going and to hide their distress. Much like in the healthcare profession, showing vulnerability can feel like failure. Tragically, 1 man dies by suicide every minute of every day. In the UK, men currently make up 76% of all suicides in the UK. Seeking help is not weakness. It is often the hardest, and strongest thing that you can do. - Dr Zaid Al-Najjar, Medical Director
If you are a male health and care professional who is suffering in silence, you are not alone. NHS Practitioner Health considers confidentiality carefully and have a number of measures in place to ensure the confidentiality of our patient. #MensHealthWeek
09.06.2025 07:00 β π 3 π 5 π¬ 0 π 0Totally agree, hostile and racist immigration policies are a huge problem, both morally and practically
06.06.2025 08:46 β π 1 π 0 π¬ 0 π 0In terms of innovation - we definitely should be looking at what other systems are doing well in this space
In terms of workforce, I'n in favour in complete free movement of people, but do worry about wealthy nations recruiting heavily from abroad and the impact that could have on poorer societies
This raises the question of where workforce planning has got to and whether we need to think about more innovation in diagnostic services e.g. AI tools or new diagnostic roles π€

But this suggests that shouting too much about it's use might not be the best approach in building trust with our audiences
Worth thinking about how we demonstrate it's safety before doing so

Interesting findings for UK comms/PR professionals
A lot of excitement from the profession on the potential benefits of AI in our work, and a big push from central government for those in public sector comms

I'm not sure how a name change addresses this
Overall this discussion has to be woven in to wider policy conversations about the future design of health services and then the workforce we'll need to deliver it
5/5
2. Safety and quality
There have long been concerns that safety issues have arisen because of PA roles
This seems to be less about the roles themselves (and certainly not their name) and more about how services are designed, how they're managed and the QA processes on place
4/5
Links to a wider question about the whole health workforce, what's the appropriate and sustainable mix of professionals
Very hard to imagine we can deliver the scope of health care the public need, mainly through doctors
3/5
1. Public perceptions of who's treated them
Interesting as not really about outcomes but trust in them and seems to suggest that the public will trust the same outcomes differently if delivered by a doctor
2/5
Sure this will welcomed by many medical professionals
The report itself touches on a couple of issues:
