If you care about betting markets, Bears are +200 on Draftkings to acquire Maxx Crosby. Staying with the Raiders is next closest odds at +350.
Implied probability of +200 odds is 33.33%

Cross-posting Chicago Bears tweets so you don’t have to keep your X account. Only supplementing Bears reporters active on Bluesky, so be sure to follow them first. Please excuse any tardiness. I’m a fan with a job, etc., doing this in my free time.

Jahdae Walker posted an offseason workout video where he’s wearing his helmet the entire workout and practicing celebrations 😂

The combine is the ultimate rumor/gossip mill, and this year, folks around the league had positive things (gasp!) to say about the Bears.
Here's what @danwiederer.bsky.social and I heard about Ben Johnson, Caleb Williams, DJ Moore, the LB situation, Kevin Byard, Darnell Wright and more
I think the theory is his leg wasn’t 100% after breaking it in late ‘24, & missing most of ‘25 offseason didn’t allow him to strengthen it back up. So, maybe in ‘26 his physical capabilities would be improved?
I agree with you though. Seems like trying to thread a needle without spending a ton.
Biggs says he thinks re-signing LT Braxton Jones on a 1-year deal makes sense as a stopgap until Ozzy Trapilo gets back.

Albert Breer says he “leans towards a Maxx Crosby trade happening, and maybe this week.”
Says the return likely won’t be as large as the Micah Parsons deal (two firsts + Kenny Clark).
Mentions Chicago as one of at least seven teams that are keeping tabs on Crosby’s availability.
Ben Johnson at the United Center for the Bucks, Bulls game. Ben met with Billy Donovan, and Scottie Pippen.

I won’t pretend to know. I don’t think anyone expected TE last year. I think the way Poles has said it in the past is that it’s BPA, but when there’s 2+ prospects with similar grades, positional need/value is the tie-breaker.
& Thieneman is awesome. He might’ve tested too well to be there at 25 IMO
Howell might have some OLB/edge hybrid ability, similar to Von & Mack early in their careers. Maybe he’s a scheme fit more than I first thought.
FWIW, Dennis Allen played safety at A&M and coached there for 4 years. One coach there at the time was Bill Johnson, who is now the Bears Asst. DL Coach.
Thought it was interesting that the Bears met with Cashius Howell (6’2” 253) at the combine
I normally think of Dennis Allen as preferring taller, bigger edge defenders, but he was the DC in Denver when they drafted Von Miller (6’3” 246) & the HC in Oakland when they drafted Khalil Mack (6’3” 251)
Just my guess, but I think they're viewing LT as needing a one year stopgap and the first rounder is going to be best defensive lineman available.
01.03.2026 16:51 — 👍 1 🔁 0 💬 1 📌 0That'd be my guess. Poles said Ozzy is going to miss most of the year but "we expect him to be back and be himself." So, if you need a one year starter, free agency does make more sense. Spending a first round pick would probably be the end of Ozzy's prospects as a starter on the team in '27 onward.

Was able to find reports for 26 prospects that the Bears met with at the combine:
- 4 DTs
- 6 Edges
- 2 LBs
- 6 CBs
- 3 Safeties
- 2 QBs
- 2 TEs
- 1 WR
- 0 OL
Not all meetings are reported, and the Bears most definitely met with more than this, but thought it was an interesting sample size.
I don't mind disagreement at all and appreciate folks who initiate conversations on here. Nice to talk some ball. I try to mostly be a news resource and not editorialize too much, but the offseason is mostly speculation anyways so hopefully it spurs some conversation.

Dane Brugler: Deep, deep safety class this year.
Best part is there are multiple safeties in every round worth getting excited about. Might see double-digit safeties go top-100.
Only names to add for known Bears meetings at the combine:
- Dillon Thienemen, S, Oregon, JR, 6'0", 205
- Cole Payton, QB, North Dakota St., SR, 6'2", 229
- Behren Morton, QB, Texas Tech, SR, 6;2", 220
- Kevin Coleman Jr., WR, Missouri, SR, 5'10", 174
The NFL has informed its clubs in a memo that the salary cap number for the 2026 season is $301.2 million per club, up $22 million.

This is chock full of information. Might as well be an offseason manifesto.
I try not to undercut reporters that put out info for subscribers only. I do recommend a subscription if you get a paywall, and if it's in your budget.
I'll post any tidbits that are in the public domain when I see them.
Yes. They're trying to remodel their house but are at their budget limit. So they have to sell the couch in the living room so they can buy a three-piece furniture set and coffee table.
If this analogy does not work, please ignore me.

Albert Breer says he thinks Tremaine Edmunds “should” have a trade market, guesses an early Day 3 pick could be the return.
Also reports Edmunds’ contract has a team option for next year, which I believe is new reporting.
