Field Yates: Between the trade of DJ Moore, release of Tremaine Edmunds and retirement of Drew Dalman, the Bears have about $44M in new cap space as of this week.
Be it addressing C or fortifying the defense, Chicago has spending power.
Cronin: The Bears create $15 million in cap space with the release of Tremaine Edmunds, who they granted permission to last Wednesday to seek a trade.
06.03.2026 02:29 — 👍 8 🔁 0 💬 0 📌 1Schefter: Bears are releasing former Pro-Bowl LB Tremaine Edmunds, per sources. Edmunds has been a full-time starter in each of his eight NFL seasons, and he now will become a free agent with 900 tackles on his resume.

Last night Dallas thought they were close to a deal but since then other teams have raised the ante and potentially are offering the Raiders 2 1st round picks Expected Dallas to now shift their focus to Trey Hendrickson

Bears get the Bills' 2nd round draft pick this year which is 60th overall. That's a very good pick in this year's draft.
Bears send their 5th rounder to Buffalo. That's probably around pick ~170 or so. Compensatory picks haven't been announced yet, so we don't know the exact pick order.
Done deal: The Bills are sending a 2026 second-round pick to the Bears for WR D.J. Moore and a 2026 fifth-round pick, per sources.
A pick swap that gives Chicago extra draft ammo and Buffalo a new top receiver.
Albert Breer: Meanwhile, the Bears have cleared a bunch of cap room this week, with Drew Dalman retiring and DJ Moore traded. We'd mentioned earlier that they've shown some interest in Tyler Linderbaum and Maxx Crosby. Stay tuned.

Schefter: the Chicago Bears are working to finalize a trade that would send WR D.J. Moore to the Buffalo Bills.
Compensation still is being discussed, and the trade cannot be processed until the new league year begins, but both sides are pushing to make it happen.
Courtney Cronin with some reporting on Drew Dalman, says Drew’s decision to retire was related to preserving his long-term health.

Here’s the Bears roster under contract for the 2026 season, assuming Edmunds is traded or released and excluding futures/reserve contracts (practice squad)
Cap space is via OverTheCap
From Jonathan Jones:
- “Multiple sources indicate the Chicago Bears are a team to watch in potentially dealing for Crosby.” Dallas Cowboys are “lurking.”
- Plenty around the league are keeping an eye on DJ Moore’s availability. New England & Las Vegas are mentioned as possibilities.
Unfortunately. It’s a major bummer. Was nice to have a pro bowl center for the first time since Olin Kreutz, but can’t blame a guy at that position wanting to presumably protect his long-term health. Throws a wrench into the offseason plans for sure.
