All you are saying is that you want to gatekeep creativity. That's not good.

Neuroscientist here... creativity is a process. A process. A FUCKING PROCESS. Not an output.
Nobody is gatekeeping the process - Al simply invites you to skip to the end, to the output. Which, as mentioned, is not creativity.
Nobody cares if the output is aesthetically pleasing, because the process, the act itself, the limitation of a single human mind and the resulting creations that capture that one single inimitable human experience... is what makes a creation worth paying attention

Why am I so against generative AI in games?

Because I simply do not want my initial reaction to art to be one of suspicion and scrutiny, AI slop is fundamentally damaging my relationship to art and artistry, and I am deeply resentful that it is forcing me to be guarded when I should be wowed.

I cannot recommend you enough to install the Wikipedia app on your devices and use it like you would any search engine. Nowadays they even have tabs so you can open many articles at once.

And, if you can, please donate to the foundation. It has survived the internet enshittification that way.

Ireland is locking down basic income for artists. Could Canada follow suit? | CBC Radio Ireland has made permanent its three-year pilot program that gave monthly income payments to thousands of artists. Canadian artists are hoping to use that program's success to build momentum for guara...

“I think the federal basic income program could be a nation-building program.”

We've seen study after study showing universal basic income works -- cheaper, more effective than current income programs. Doesn't disincentivize people from working. Reduces crime. Improves health. UBI now.

Panel 1: Shen is standing in the middle of a city street, with green and blue hues from a park in the background, happily saying "Man, sometimes I wish I lived in some kind of fantasy RPG world."

Panel 2: We switch perspectives so Shen is in profile, as he gestures his hand forward and says "But then I think: Nah, my current life is fine as is."

Panel 3: Shen puts his hand down and the previous text bubble disappears, revealing a white truck about to come out of a narrow alley.

Panel 4: The truck reverses back into the alley, only its headlights now visible in the darkness.

"They're trying to convince people they can't do the things they've been doing easily for years - to write emails, to write a presentation. Your daughter wants you to make up a bedtime story about puppies - to write that for you." We will get to the point, she says with a grim laugh, "that you will essentially become just a skin bag of organs and bones, nothing else. You won't know anything and you will be told repeatedly that you can't do it, which is the opposite of what life has to offer. Capitulating all kinds of decisions like where to go on vacation, what to wear today, who to date, what to eat.
People are already doing this. You won't have to process grief, because you'll have uploaded photos and voice messages from your mother who just died, and then she can talk to you via AI video call every day. One of the ways it's going to destroy humans, long before there's a nuclear disaster, is going to be the emotional hollowing-out of people." - author and filmmaker Justine Bateman from a piece by Emine Saner for the Guardian
