Research by Erica Chenoweth and Maria Stephan has shown that nonviolent resistance is nearly twice as effective as violent resistance in forcing political change. Furthermore, when 3.5% of the population is actively participating in a campaign of change, the likelihood of success is very high. Johnson County has a population of about 163,000 people. By the 3.5% rule then, our number is about 5700 people. When you come to No Kings on March 28; when you BOYCOTT Amazon, Walmart, Apple, Home Depot and many others and shop local instead; when you SPEAK OUT against ICE brutality; when you SUPPORT our immigrant neighbors; when you TALK to your family, friends, coworkers and neighbors to get them activated; when you VOTE against the fascists; you are part of that 5700!

The Des Moines, Iowa, metro area has six hospitals serving 700,000 people.
