Megabonk is a great pickup for $10, a game that really worms its way into your brain with that "one more run" mentality, especially when you are looking to accomplish a specific goal and keep on dying cause you underestimate how fragile CL4NK is. But that's not me. Nope.

Remember when I said I didn't wanna get caught in the middle of multiple long games in the stream's schedule? Damn you gaming industry ... and my lack of self control.

Some minor mods I'd love to see for Final Fantasy Tactics:

- Proper "crunch" SFX when I rotate the camera - not just when it happens on its own

- Using OG character sprites in the updated version

- The new voice over is sublime, but I miss the old death screams AHHHHHHHHHHHHH....

I am very, very happy with Final Fantasy Tactics so far! Aside from some minor quibbles about sound effects and UI struggles, this is the experience I remember: overthrowing a theocracy while screaming and throwing rocks at my friends.

Alright, I need a break from Silksong & Hell is Us, modern woke games about corrupt theocracies using normal citizens as pawns in petty bids for power.

While I feel a lot of the game draws inspiration from the Wars in the Balkans its discussions on the media's role in igniting conflict, weaponizing egalitarian principles for racist ends, & the cycle of hate & violence being passed onto new generations feels so ...close to home.

A screenshot from the video game Hell is Us. In it the main character meets a family of members of a fictional country that is currently in a religious civil war. The father is missing his right forearm and the child sitting next to him is missing his left hand and right forearm. You learn previously the the opposing side of this civil war had come to this village and chopped off the hands of inhabitants, while chanting "No hand - no vote." The victims had been looking forward to voting in an election that would have decided if their province would gain independence; things like this sparked the civil war in the game. The child in t he image is saying, "Daddy says that if I'm nice the my hands will grow back. I think he's lying ..."

Hell is Us continues to be an experience. I do mean that generously b/c so few games are this heavy & thought provoking; I tell viewers asking what it is that it is an utterly uncompromising scifi depiction of a religious civil war w/out ever feeling over the top or disingenuous.

It would have been more believable if it said, "Moreover, abolish ICE, my love."

I think that can deff be said of something like Elden Ring. You can always go elsewhere, level up, find some rather OP items to even the playing field. Silksong I'd argue not so much since at certain points you are going to be bottlenecked at a boss or section with no other recourse than "git gud."

In the end I feel giving players the tools to customize their experience is beneficial, especially in regards to accessibility as it does not take away from those that choose to play the game as "the devs intended." If you feel it does ... that just makes you a jerk. 🧵~ fin

Accessibility options & modular difficulty. While I go back & fourth on the cool, cultural aspect of everyone "experiencing" the same game b/c its presented to everyone in the same manner I come to realize that's hogwash. Life experience & skill level has a nullifying effect 🧵➡️

One "solution" is to offer difficulty levels, but as some have pointed out that's almost asking devs to make "multiple" games. Balancing isn't just a switch & it costs resources for each tier feel good. I think that is overblown since I feel devs have a better option🧵➡️

I don't feel that frees them from criticism on the matter. The more demanding a game is without recourse the less accessible to a larger audience & I generally feel that's a net negative for gaming overall. This is a conundrum that will plague this discussion forever🧵➡️

After a frustrating/rewarding night of Silksong it's my turn add my unsolicited, mostly uneducated opinion into the ring of gaming difficulty. On one hand I agree; it is paramount the artists create the art they wish to create, and that includes difficulty, however 🧵 ➡️

I'm back baby! Feeling refreshed and recharged for streaming having missed, oh God ... 3 streams. Welp I guess the only thing to do is gobble down as much Silksong as I possibly can before Final Fantasy Tactics comes out :3
