Last year, Butey the Buzzard visited regularly for a little ‘carrion’. Then (over 200 photos later) Spring sprang, his mate returned, and scolded him for such behaviour.
Now, he occasionally perches at a distance and glances wistfully at the wall.

It was here we met the Edge of the World, a drizzle-sodden creature who was disinclined to talk to us, but, rather moodily, permitted us a glance at the View-that-Wasn’t.

So good. Sad I have finished it!

A delicious book, a must-read. I have visited/ lived in /near many of the locations, so the powerful descriptions of land/sea/hill/moor scapes have both triggered memories and urges to revisit, or visit for the first time. The nomadic lifestyle of the author gave me much comfort and belief in my own wanderings. What an incredible book. Please note: the library book escaped the clutches of this ‘take over the world’ spider plant.

It’s taken me ages to get through as I had to have CLEAR TIMES to be able to enjoy every word/ photo/ woodcut. A book to escape into, and luxuriate in. What a treat!
