After a few blinks, he smirks while wagging his fingers in her face.

“Wrong spot.”

Gripping her lower back, he pulled her in and gave her a soft kiss on the lips.

“You’re welcome. If you’re still cold, let me make you hot chocolate. You like that, don’t you?”

While he was doing what he could to comfort her and keep her warm, he did his best to hide that he was also very cold. The only tell being the visible breath leaving his lips.

Seeing the shivering of her, DM wrapped a blanket around her while also rubbing his hands along her arms to help her warm up quicker.

He gave another nod as he agreed with his statement.

“And one day that, too, shall be us once we hand the torch over to the next generation. But we have plenty of years and hard work ahead of us before we reach that point.”

It truly was a time like no other for this kingdom, upheld through many years of hard work and a shared desire.

“He would be proud of what we produced and progressed. He held the highest of hopes for us. I’m glad we are able to live up to expectations.”

Taking a soft breath, DM closed his eyes and accepted her stubbornness. Even letting out a soft chuckle of acceptance.

“To wish nightmares were only bad dreams, figments of our imagination, I have longed for. However, my nightmares stem from reality, memories of when…”

He took a small pause.

His eyes laid across the land they stood in front of. The roads, people, buildings, crops, all of it thriving for a better future.

“Well said, my Pharaoh. ‘One of great leadership, wisdom, and nobleness shall lead these lands to a brighter tomorrow.’ Words my father spoke. They match you entirely.”

“A strong fortitude, one equal to, if not above, the highest class of mages.”

A soft smirk of joy was given, happy to see his longtime friend never wavering.

“It’s reassuring to know my teachings have been useful.”

To a degree, it didn’t matter much to him what his name fell under as it’s changed through time. But there was a sense of familiarity to that name. One he enjoyed.

“A pharaoh that walks the land of his people. Not all can say the same. One that brings you respect and admiration.”

He nodded.

“I should have expected as much. A puzzle on the outside, and the inside. And to traverse the endless labyrinth until being let you, a remarkable feat indeed. Many of minds would have shattered in there.”

He felt a soft breath leave his lips, his eyes ever so slightly widening from her touch. Reaching up, he took ahold of her hand and pulled it away from his forehead.

“I’d.. rather not discuss that. I wouldn’t want to trouble you.”

His eyes meeting hers as he placed her hand back to her side.

“Call me as you please.”

He nodded highly to him, breaking his small focus of thoughts.

“Trivial matters, nothing to worry about. But what brings you by? I would think you’d be running your kingdom.”

“What was being trapped in their like? I would assume it was something similar to a dark void, lacking any semblance of structure.”

While he may not appear it as times, he tends to prefer company or someone around rather than being alone.

“It’s oddly quiet..”

He’s standing along a cliff top, peering over the vast and beautiful ocean. His hands clasped behind his back.

I never thought I’d be sad to only find DMG fanart..

Her question caused a reactionary twitch in his eyebrows that made him look more stern that lasted only a split second. Looking her way, he gave a gentle expression.

“Yeah, it was just a nightmare. Nothing to be concerned about. But I appreciate it.”

He patted her head lightly.
