As i understand it, the LTIR for the PWHL is retroactive to the end of the last game played in the PWHL, so she may already be eligible to come off the LTIR even though she has just been put on it. So it might be just a short absence but putting her on the list lets them sign a reserve.

But how does that make the Olympic organizers dumbasses? They don't control which events the media will want to cover, they are just responding to what they know the media wants to cover.

It seems to be based on how many members of the press want to attend, not how many people are interested in the game. I imagine they have some history to go on or some way for media to indicate that they are interested in covering the event so they know where they will have competition for spots.

The unfortunate thing is that they are in NATO so we can't retaliate at the level they so clearly deserve.
