The History of Europe: Every Year
YouTube video by Cottereau The History of Europe: Every Year

While agreeing in the round,
I've found this (below) both reassuring and highlighting of the need for constant vigilance. There is no perfect end state. See if you can see where the 'thousand year reich' occurs (also, that Roman Empire lasted quite a while).

1. This is a thread on freedom, and how easy it is to lose.

Over the past 2,000 years in Europe, there have been few periods and places of freedom. For much of the time we lived under highly oppressive tyrannies of various kinds, whether small or grand, local or imperial, secular or religious.🧵

England’s SEND crisis: costs, challenges and the case for reform | Institute for Fiscal Studies What are the challenges facing the special educational needs system in England, and how can the government could reform the system?

The only way to improve quality is through increases to supply-side capacity.

This could include a long-term specialist workforce plan, much better training for teachers on SEND needs, better partnerships with special schools and real accountability for outcomes [3/3]

Watching informative video from @theifs.bsky.social on special educational needs. How much of the apparently striking increase in these has resulted from cuts to "normal" education -- fewer teachers, fewer resources etc?

The iPaper reports the Chief Executive of the NHS Confederation saying private finance is needed to fix the NHS backlog.

But adding further debt to NHS Trusts' finances will only make matters worse.

Public trust Keir Starmer far more than Farage to keep NHS free – poll - LabourList Keir Starmer is far more trusted with members of the public to keep the NHS free at the point of use than Nigel Farage

"Free at the point of use" is not the bar

People voted for this Labour government to defend patients not profits

e.g.
🏥reinstating the NHS as a fully public service
🏥saving £10 million a week by ending outsourcing
🏥ending all private finance deals

Graphic showing a laughing Nigel Farage - above are the words Lib Dems defeat Farage's plan to undermine our Human Rights

Liberal Democrat MPs just defeated Nigel Farage’s Bill in Parliament to tear up people’s rights and withdraw from the ECHR.

Farage wants to do away with the Britain Churchill built and turn it into Trump's America. We won't let him.

Ending EU free movement a ‘disaster’ for Britain, says Green Party’s Zack Polanski The party’s new leader calls for the migration pact to be reinstated as he sets out his stall on Brexit.

The end of free movement of people with the European Union has been a “disaster” for the UK that should be urgently reversed, new Green Party leader Zack Polanski told POLITICO — in his first major intervention on EU policy.

Mounting a resolute defence against the far right on immigration is necessary but not sufficient. We need aggressively pro-immigration voices - like this - in UK politics. Actively welcoming migrants is morally right and better for everyone. Make that case and put the bigots on the defensive.

“Science is never settled” sounds reasonable—but it’s often a rhetorical trick to undermine consensus on issues like vaccines or climate change.

What an absolute cluster.

Private companies in effect alleging the Thames Water bidding process is rigged. Who’d have guessed!

Ministers should just fess-up. This charade has never been about the public interest.

It was always about keeping water in private hands at any cost.
