I was suggesting a hypothetical where the companies who depend on lock in based on software compatibility suddenly have that whole notion shattered that they're the only place for xyz software.

By "I don't think Adobe deserves any more money." I was trying to say that FOSS software & donating to them is really where the focus should be rather than supporting Adobe. I wasn't really talking about piracy and I personally don't want anything to do with Adobe or their ecosystem.

I yearn for the day they manage to get Adobe software working on Linux via WINE and Adobe, Apple, and Microsoft all collectively pee themselves. DRM is the biggest issue though and I don't think Adobe deserves any more money.

I took so many photos today but the sensor was really dusty and there were spots all over my photos and I feel like I wasted my time and I'm just kinda sad now

I've been reading through some of Debian's "Debian GNU/Linux Installation Guide" at www.debian.org/releases/tri... and it's genuinely got some really good simple explanations for a lot of things like general computing concepts outside Debian! Even explains some UEFI stuff and Linux history.

Figured out how to get VAAPI working on my laptop, now I can record without using my CPU and let the iGPU do the work!

Way too late for an official rename so I think a sorta "community rename" will have to do.

Called it GNU IMP in that post cause I don't like the original name a whole lot, but I think GNIMP ([GN]u [I]mage [M]anipulation [P]rogram) might be better for an alt name cause it's shorter, I pronounce it "Guh-Nimp".

Nice figuring that out! Seems like the unsigned Nvidia driver was the problem after all. I've never had to deal with dedicated GPU stuff so this wasn't my area of expertise 😅

I actually don't really think I've ever used a device with a dedicated GPU. I just don't do a lot of graphically demanding things to really notice.

I can get around 60 FPS but I keep it at 50 just to avoid thermal stuff, couldn't get great temperature measurements but I'd say around ~67-78 C ish maybe so nothing too bad, thermald seems to cool off the CPU pretty good when I alt-tab so that's doing fine. Sodium is helping a lot I think.

Around 53-67C (averages ~55C) during 1080p video playback. The processor is an i7-5500U which has the HD Graphics 5500.

Maybe something like "apt install --user emacs" which would set up PATH and install the package to something like ~/.local/apt, ~/usr/*, etc.

I think user /home installs for package management without sudo might be a nice idea. This'd prevent a lot of messes I think.

My 2015 laptop averages around 35-40C while idle lol I thought it would be higher.

Is what gives it away.

Need to replace the flash storage I think, seems like it's not a systemd issue rather a filesystem issue. Fsck might help but either way it likely needs a new SD card if this is a Pi-like system and a reflash. The firmware had already done its job. Writes need to be disabled if they aren't already..

Moving on to A+ Core 2 once I finish reviewing everything I learned in Core 1
