Culture across waters The fifth in a series of articles under the title of Light Over Water – Journeys of Discovery In my last article I was writing about the interplay between sun, skies, clouds and water and I quoted from Coleridge in a poem where he writes: sounds possessed with inward light. This got me thinking - perhaps there is an analogy to be made, comparing the choreography of visual elements from the physical world, mentioned above,Β  with the interaction of musical traditions from various cultures.

Sounds possessed with inwardΒ light The fourth in a series of articles under the title of Light Over Water – Journeys of Discovery I was fortunate, when growing up, to have a bedroom with a west facing view. It was a small room with a small window but it did look out over an unbroken view of a large sky. That large sky was over towards the western coast of Cumbria, and there were some truly amazing sunsets.

The Shadow from theΒ Substance The second in a series of articles under the title of Light Over Water – Journeys of Discovery Maulds Meaburn is a small village just south of Appleby.Β  The river Lyvenet, essentially a small stream running through the centre, could be crossed here by a wooden footbridge. Many thanks for sharing this! We are working closely with @ageuk.bsky.social and Sheffield's "People Keeping Well" to provide local live music events for the elderly in our community - and others who might find it a challenge to get into the city centre.

That's humanism Humanists make sense of the world through logic, reason, and evidence, and always seek to treat those around us with warmth, understanding, and respect.

Love this from Humanists UK! #Thatshumanism is the perfect introduction to the humanist approach to life, featuring four animations narrated by Stephen Fry, and brand new posters all about humanism for schools. Have a look for yourself! humanists.uk/thatshumanism/

That's humanism! We've teamed up with our patron Stephen Fry, to explore humanist ideas about some of life’s big questions in four animated shorts.

How do we know what’s true? Narrated by Stephen Fry, #Thatshumanism shows why science, experimentation, and evidence are the most reliable ways to understand the world. Watch the video: humanists.uk/thatshumanism/
