A boarded up shop front in West Bromwich, sadly typical of many in town centres up and down the UK. In a forlorn attempt to make the premises look a little less derelict the local authority have covered part of it with an image of what appears to be a gift shop featuring three celebrities born in the area. Actress Julie Walters (famous for her leading role in the film Educating Rita) stands in the doorway whilst comedian Frank Skinner is behind the counter. Sitting on a chair at the front of the shop is ‘Rock God’ and former Led Zeppelin front man, Robert Plant.

During a walk around Chasewater, Staffordshire, UK, I was surprised to come across a group of five deer grazing on the pitch of a local rugby club. They were completely unbothered by my presence on the touch line as I stood watching them for about ten minutes.

The Ozzy tifo that was displayed at Villa Park before one of last season’s Champions League games. Villa Park was the venue for Black Sabbath’s final appearance a few weeks ago. They were just four working class kids from Aston. Who would have thought they’d have such an impact on popular culture? Birmingham has lost one of its favourite sons.

The Wychbury Obelisk, Hagley, Worcestershire, UK. The obelisk, which stands on Wychbury Hill, is a local landmark that can be seen for miles around. Since at least the 1970s the monument has been defaced with graffiti asking "Who put Bella in the Wych Elm?", a reference to an unsolved World War II-era mystery in which the decomposed body of a woman was found in a nearby wood. In 1944, four teenage boys discovered the remains of a woman inside a hollow Wych Elm tree. The identity of the woman has never been discovered and her murder remains unsolved although many theories have been put forward over the years. The graffiti serves as a reminder of this ‘murder most foul’.
