8. There is NO substitution to replace your own intuition and inner guidance.

Pointers are only ever pointers and many are misleading to subtle inferences, nuance and context.

By which I mean posting that way, not looking at someone's replies. I do that sometimes and if I'm right anyone else reading this must have done it too?

If you reply to a deleted post, I don't think it shows up in the following feed? Someone would have to look at your replies. Why would someone do that?

When you learn that all the things that sound so easy are actually very difficult. And then the other place where they are easy again. And so on.

There was a line in the sky to the east. Eyes closed, it remained. Turning, it stayed in the same place. It was a bearing from where I was. Along I-80 on the map. A lot of the time I don't know, so I don't say because things get misunderstood.

A firing range on Dartmoor.

A firing range on Dartmoor.

The Firing Range, Dartmoor.

Large areas of northern Dartmoor are leased by the Army. Live fire ranges, squads of soldiers and marines trudging through the landscape cursing the weather, red flags marking range boundaries and grey metal observation posts fill the landscape.

An almost abstract image of a sun burst through black clouds on Dartmoor.

We Were Gods Once.

A storm crossing Dartmoor. In the last 4 weeks we have had 3 such storms. Everything is soaked to its bones, roads are submerged, and a pier has disappeared.

There's something quite magnificent about how Winter has reminded us of her strength.

Our capture is a night-time scene along one of the canals in Amsterdam.

The viewpoint is from the middle of a bridge, looking straight down a long, narrow canal that stretches into the distance.

The water below is a deep inky blue, almost black, gently rippling. Reflections from streetlights and buildings shimmer across the surface in streaks of white, gold, turquoise, and occasional red, creating a painterly effect that dances with the movement of the water.

On both sides of the canal, tall, narrow brick townhouses stand shoulder to shoulder. Their facades are dark and elegant, typical of historic Dutch architecture, with large rectangular windows.

Many windows glow warmly in shades of yellow and amber, suggesting homes and cafΓ©s lit from within. The buildings rise several stories high, their rooftops forming a slightly uneven skyline against the dark blue night sky.

Leafless trees line the canal banks, their thin branches reaching upward like lacework silhouettes. Beneath them, bicycles are parked in dense rows along the railings and pavements, a defining feature of the city.

Cars are also parked along the street edges, their shapes partially illuminated by streetlamps. On the right-hand side, there are brighter splashes of neon light, reds and blues from bars, shops, or small restaurants.

A few figures can be seen walking along the pavement, slightly blurred, suggesting movement and evening activity. The overall mood is lively yet calm: the city feels awake but unhurried.

In the far distance, the canal narrows toward a vanishing point where a softly lit structure glows faintly green-blue, anchoring the horizon.

Above, the sky is clear and very dark, with no visible stars, forming a dramatic backdrop to the illuminated city below.

The atmosphere is cool, reflective, and atmospheric. A blend of quiet water, warm windowlight, and the soft hum of nightlife along the canal.

Finally, our picture is finished with a simple white border frame.

Sometimes pastels serenade unease and the softness, I allow it to penetrate the stillness further until there is only sky from my mind to the afterlife.
