Immigrants work in crucial jobs across the American economy β€” they grow our food, take care of our elderly, build our homes, and tend to our sick.

Heads are going to explode πŸ’₯

Cato Institute just nuked the lie. Immigrants have cut U.S. deficits by $14.5 TRILLION since 1994, slashing the national debt by a third.

All that β€œimmigrants are bleeding us dry” noise? Absolute bullshit.

The more I think about it, the more it feels like Bari is trying to turn CBSNews into the Ringer (podcast network + few articles here and there). But for serious stuff, like actual news...eeesh

Reading this demonstrates they don't really have new ideas, and in theory they shouldn't, as journalism is about reporting objective facts (which are inconvenient to BW). My guess is she will get Ellison to buy Substack and that will become part of CBSNews featuring a "plethora of different voices"

If this chart doesn't terrify the oil industry, I don't know what will. India’s peak road-oil consumption per person will never reach Chinese peak levels.

The real question is…was that the whole reason he decided to go to war with Venezuela in the first place? Just to force her to give him her award? Sadly I wouldn’t put it past him.

I think I figured out my hot take for subwaytakes - no new content can be published between the hours of 12-6 in each country.

The need for content has led to so much nonsense people are losing their minds. We should have set hours everyday where there is a moratorium on any new content.

Best TikTok thing going is the two dudes trying food from every country without leaving NYC. If you haven’t seen them yet, it’s incredible. My favorite so far is last week’s. Legit got me emotional.

Hundreds protest planned closure of international study centers at UNC β€œCuts like this are exactly what happens when you appoint a right-wing finance executive with no experience in higher education to run your university,” a student protester said.

UNC Chapel Hill's decision to close six area studies centers is the Carolina Way version of Trump withdrawing the US from 66 global organizations -- narrow-minded, ill-considered, and devastating for both the university and the wider world. @unc-ch-aaup.bsky.social

In a nation ruled by supremacy and all its many sabotages of the public good, every act of repair is a defiant act.

Peace and prosperity in Venezuela will come from democracy, not oil, writes Ricardo Hausmann β€” The Economist Wishing otherwise, as Donald Trump does, is delusional

β€œ...prosperity does not come from oil, decrees or even benevolent rulers. It comes from rights. Rights create private property. Rights create security. Rights create debate. Rights allow people to invest, to innovate, to dreamβ€”and to transform reality.”

2025 letter | Dan Wang Corgis, compute, Cold War; Ecclesiastes; ties; Stendhal; humor; Pascal's Wager; deep infrastructure; Germanic obedience; Texas State Fair

I opened my book by saying that Chinese and Americans are the most alike people in the world...both are driven by a yearning for the future. They feel the draw of better times ahead, which is missing for Europeans, those people who have a sense of optimism only about the past
