How learning works The guide to learning that actually sticks

"Your long-term memory is not a filing cabinet. Itโ€™s not a library where knowledge sits on neat shelves, waiting to be retrieved. Instead, your brain stores knowledge more like...a restaurant."

This is such an insightful post.

Millionaire Tax That Inspired Mamdani Fuels $5.7 Billion Haul in Massachusetts A millionaire levy in Massachusetts that New York City mayoral frontrunner Zohran Mamdani holds up as a model for taxing the rich has generated $3 billion more in revenue than expected without forcing...

NEW: The first two years of Massachusetts' millionaire tax has raised $3 billion more than expected.

And rather than driving the rich away, IPS researchers found that the number of millionaires has *increased.*

But for that, you actually have to believe in something.

I think what a lot of centrists don't understand is to most, moderation = feckless. You believe in nothing. My guess is most people will vote for authenticity over full alignment on beliefs. Unfortunately dems, in the spirit of "moderation" have demonstrated this. Best idea should always win.

Still thinking about Zohranโ€™s full-throated defense of immigration and how long iโ€™ve waited for it. No bullshit about border security or โ€œlegalโ€ immigrants but just unabashed support for immigrants. How many people feel so much more seen today? I know I do. 1/

Pundits say the problem is that Democrats fail to represent the peopleโ€”but the real problem is that our political system fails to represent the people.

Instead of all the polling centrist nonsense, here's an idea...Be charismatic/personable as a leader and stop hiring folks that are feckless. Thats it. You can do all the polling you want, but policy positions aren't that important these days.

Great article on the challenges of carbon removal and the struggles of building it into a viable business / industryโ€ฆsomething weโ€™ve struggled with at Susteon. I liken it to your weekly garbage pickup, it needs public funds to thrive/survive, otherwise weโ€™re all just living in a very stinky world.

"In the two years since the state started charging a 4% surtax on incomes over $1 million, the effort has created a $5.7 billion windfall, with the surplus being used to fund bridge repairs, bolster literacy programs and address the transportation systemโ€™s budget deficit."

Taxing the rich works!

Even even though the former childhood star is usually able to get away from his famous past in France, Culkin did share a funny story about a Parisian cafe that was using his name as its Wi-Fi password.

The actor explained that when he walked into the cafe, a woman handed him a
"Home Alone"-era photo of himself on a card.

โ€œA waitress just gave it to me and walked away -- their Wi-Fi code was 'Macaulay Culkin,"' the actor said. "When she came back, I said, 'I like your Wi-Fi code.' She goes, 'Thank you,' and I say, 'C'est moi.' She turned white and brought over the owner of the place, who said, 'I knew you'd come here someday.'"
