07.10.2025 22:23 β π 1 π 0 π¬ 0 π 0A thing said to me this weekend that I really needed to hear:
"You commit acts of journalism. You're a journalist."
I once described Taylor Swift's brand of feminism as whiter than a polar bear eating a tofu and mayonnaise sandwich in a blizzard.
I was wrong.
Taylor Swift's brand is whiter than a polar bear eating a tofu and mayonnaise sandwich in a blizzard.
I regret the error.
It really did.
I miss #NativeTwitter.
decided that human cost was a small price for someone else to pay for your comfort so you played ball by telling yourself as long as you aren't actively racist you're one of the good ones.
You're not. 2/2
I'll say this again and I'll be blunt.
If you're silent about racism in any form it means at some point, subconsciously or not, you did a cost benefit analysis of the status quo vs equity and found that fight a bit too inconvenient, and 1/2

Words without action are performative and only serve to assuage colonizer guilt.
DSM Black Liberati... Jun 7, 2020 ... We will no longer be using the chant, "whose streets? our streets.β These aren't our streets; this isn't our land. This land belongs to the BΓ‘xoje (Bah Kho-je) or loway people, the Sauk (Sac) people and Meskwaki (Fox) people.
During the George Floyd uprisings Black Liberation Movement Des Moines stated they would no longer chant "Whose streets? Our streets!" citing the original Native stewards of the land.
That's not all they did though. They took action. They marched. They held power to account.
Do you know why it's so freeing to be in Native spaces? Because you can finally breathe. You don't have to explain everything or defend your very existence. It's absolutely amazing.
When Natives take the time to educate you please understand it's a lot of work and it's neverending. We're tired.
I hope y'all love this song as much as I do

Also it would be pretty ironic and incredibly hypocritical for them to come at me over a song whose first verse is literally about mean people on the internet.

Also, as an eldest daughter, I'm offended at how horrible the song is.

*They can dogpile me. It's fine. I once took 6 weeks of abuse (including a death threat)
𧡠At the risk of stirring up Swifties and chiefs fans* I have to say, as Mvskoke Semvnole, it was an absolutely tone deaf decision for Swift to use the word savage in a song when she's engaged to a KC football team player.
