When I came into office as a Delegate in 2019, it was in the midst of the last Trump shutdown -- the longest in history, and protecting federal employees during a shutdown became the first bill I introduced (marylandmatters.org/.../shutdown...).

While we can't predict how long this federal shutdown will last, it is likely to be truly devastating for many families here in Howard County, across Maryland, and throughout the country.

Far too many Howard County families don't have access to sufficient healthy food. Thank you to the Healthier Choices Coalition and Horizon Foundation for hosting a food insecurity town hall to bring nonprofit leaders, policy makers, advocates, and community members together to explore solutions.

Congratulations to Maryland Turkish American Inhabitants (MARTI) on hosting an amazing festival yesterday -- delicious food, beautiful music and art, and powerful community-building! It was such a pleasure to join you!

What a gorgeous day to celebrate Howard County's history and diversity! Elkridge Heritage Society’s ribbon cutting for their museum in the newly renovated Brumbaugh House, the Korean Society of Maryland’s Korean Festival at Howard High School, and "Puerto Rico in Savage" at Carroll Baldwin Hall.

Thank you to Howard County Executive Calvin Ball, Howard County Police Department, Howard County Department of Fire and Rescue Services, and Howard County Sheriff's Office for this morning's beautiful ceremony to remember and honor the lives tragically lost 24 years ago today.

It was an honor to celebrate the one-year anniversary of Maryland Women's Business Center Shop Local and the 10-year anniversary of Leona's Sewing Studio. Today is the final day of this year's Howard County Fair. I had a wonderful time visiting earlier this week and am looking forward to returning later this afternoon -- hope to see you there!
