Black Christmas (1974)
To my knowledge Iโve never seen a Giallo film. But I finally saw this classic, said to be inspired by Giallo, and it did not disappoint.
#bales2025moviechallenge - 70s horror
Omega Man (1971)
I only saw this film a couple months ago. It was always on my list to see but never really high. Turns out that it instantly became one of the best movies of the genre Iโve ever seen. And I love the genre.
#bales2025moviechallenge - Japanese horror
Lady Snowblood (1973)
Not horror? I can make the case that it is. Love this movie.
Iโm with you.

Quiz Show (1994)
I canโt choose a fav as there are 5-6 close to perfect. Choosing quiz show because I once in an actors studio interview he said some films are work and some are love and quiz shown is love. I love it too.
So good

I lost my body (2019)
Iโve already chosen my top 3 this month so instead here is a film I wish more people would see. Not traditional horror but it has a severed hand crawling through the city. So itโs in the big tent.
#bales2025moviechallenge -Bela Lugosi
Abbot and Costello meet Frankenstein (1948)
I love Abbot and Costello, especially Frankenstein. The blend of slapstick (itโs funny) and horror (it is legitimately suspenseful) is done perfectly. Bela is such a good Dracula.
#bales2025moviechallenge - best horror remake
The Thing (1981)
Like the Fly, the movie I almost chose, the 80s remake of the Thing is a very different movie than Hawkโs original. The Carpenter treatment works though. In addition to being a true study in paranoia, itโs tons of fun.
#bales2025moviechallenge - Horror film adapted from book or story
Coraline (2009)
Iโm a fan of most of everything Laika studioโs produced. But Coraline is the magnum opus. A close to perfect stop motion animation adaptation of the gothic, dark, fantasy horror novella.
#bales2025moviechallenge - favorite Alien film
Alien (1979)
Aesthetic appreciation is personal and subjective. With that said, the only correct answers are Alien or Aliens. And Iโm going with Alien with is transformational and remains powerful 45 years later.
#bales2025moviechallenge - final destination movie
Train to Busan (2016)
I vaguely remember that there are films called final destination, but I have never seen a single one or even know what they are about. So instead Iโll share my favorite horror that includes a race to a final destination.
Amen

An American Werewolf in London (1981)
Horror works best for me if mixed with comedy and this film does that masterfully.
#bales2025moviechallenge - 80s horror
Night of the Comet (1984)
My first introduction to zombie movies and I was hooked.
#bales2025moviechallenge - Mike Flanagan movie
The Life of Chuck (2024)
I am familiar with some of his television, but have not seen a single film. I chose this one because non-horror Stephen King adaptations to film have a good track record
#Bales2025FilmChallenge - Hammer movie
Frankenstein Must be Destroyed (1969)
Iโve not seen a single Hammer movie but I think if I had been a generation older I would have seen all these films in the theater as a teen. I chose this one for the title and because I love Cushing.
#bales2025moviechallenge - silent horror
Shanks (1974)
Not truly silent nor traditional horror. But it is the story of silent mime Marcel Marceau who learns to manipulate the dead like puppets. So it fits.
Iโve heard that
13.10.2025 12:20 โ ๐ 1 ๐ 0 ๐ฌ 0 ๐ 0#bales2025moviechallenge - best Jurassic Park movie
Jurassic Park (1993)
The original is the only one Iโve ever seen. I am not sure why. I liked it a lot. I was a fan of the novel and saw the original several times. But none of the others.
#bales2025moviechallenge - best terminator
T2 3-D: Battle Across Time (1999)
The correct answer is T2. But for nostalgia for all my fellow gen X-ers, Iโll choose this universal studios mini-sequel that played at the theme park from 1999-2012.
#Bales2025FilmChallenge - color horror film
Get Out (2017)
One of the best films of the last decade took me by surprise. Loved the way it turned tropes on their heads and tackled racism in a non traditional way. Loved the concept, the acting, the tension. 10/10โญ๏ธ
#bales2025moviechallenge - black and white horror film
Night of the Hunter (1955)
It doesnโt get much better than this adaptation of the novel about a religious fanatic serial killer.
#bales2025moviechallenge - favorite shark horror film
Jaws (1975)
Not sure how there could be another answer.
Well said

Panโs Labyrinth (2006)
Ambiguous, dark, rich, strange and beautiful del Toro masterpiece about a little girl facing real life horrors who escapes into a mythical world. One of my favorite films of all
