And so it is with my friends cottage here, or my BIL's place in Lanaudière.

Fun story. A lot of cottages in Quebec are still owned by working/middle class people. See, in the 60s, Crown Lands around lakes in, say, the Laurentians, were sold for little money. There were only accessible by terrible logging roads. They were often bought by people in appartments in Montreal...
