Deze sprinkhaan ziet er in verschillende gebieden van Europa nogal anders uit, en daarom is de soort in ondersoorten verdeeld.

Dit is Chorthippus binotatus, dus inderdaad de gaspeldoornsprinkhaan, hetgeen een nogal stupide naam is voor deze soort. Er is in Nederland ooit een exemplaar gevonden (ik geloof Voorne), maar die was vrijwel zeker versleept.

Je moet het zo heet maken dat je jezelf niet verbrand, maar net wel de insecten eiwitten denatureerd. Die pen doet dat precies goed. Ik heb me 20 jaar geleden wel eens met een aansteker laten behandelen, werkte toen goed, stoppen als het net pijn gaat doen.

Nee, dazen zijn naar. Als je nu merkt dat je wordt gestoken: je hebt tegenwoordig warmtepennen waarmee je de plek even verhit, daarna heb je er geen of veel minder last van. Werkt ook tegen wespen- of bijensteken.

En ook zo'n leuke plant voor insecten. Niet alleen bloembezoek, maar ook diverse snuitkevers en een bladwesp zijn afhankelijk van deze soort.

Ik heb het even nagezocht in de originele publicatie. Er zijn twee vrouwtjes bekend. Die zijn 26,5 en 27,9 cm lang. Als je de poten strekt en meetelt (wat niet hoort bij de lengtemaat van insecten) dan kom je op 41cm uit. Stukje van @nu.nl moet gewoon 2x gram staan

Ik ga ook voor akkerhommels, de typisch Nederlandse kleurvariant met veel zwart op het achterlijf en alleen de punt weer bruinrood.

Oh, dat is dan wel weer gek. Maar misschien toch ergens zand aanwezig om in te nestelen? In tuinen zou zand kunnen zijn opgebracht, of in het talud van een weg?

Insect photographers spend a lot of effort increasing depth of field. Focus-stacks, small apertures. And that's great, I do some of that too, but there's nothing wrong with a dreamy, shallow depth photo.

This stunning insect is a sesbania clown weevil. Numerous were feeding on the leguminous host in a field; grower was happy they were eating the weed 😆

🙄 ik ben degene die de tabel nu heeft, maar die helpt niet heel erg als je niet alle kenmerken kunt zien. Tabel zegt idd alleen 2 vlekjes op achterlijf, maar rest klopt wel met Oxybelus bipunctatus, en op waarneming staan veel goedgekeurde fotos met meer vlekken, dus zal hem toch wel zijn!
