Today’s Gardio Workout was digging a hole in hard Oakland clay so I can transplant this root bound rose bush

The rose is still alive, somehow, without having been watered (except rain and dew) for two or three years

I then pruned it way back. Maybe it will survive despite my lack of knowledge

I feel it posed more questions than it answered, but it was a fun way to spend two hours with my husband

I’ve harvested enough basil from our two balcony plants to make pesto for our supper. I think a July harvest will finally make this a profitable farming operation (versus just buying the leaves at the grocery store). Looks like one harvest each month, and I’m hoping it keeps up until October
