I’ll be honest and share numbers.
Only 5% of my followers ever buy one of my books.
You won’t succeed the first day.
But multiply that by my 6k instagram friends after three years, and you’ll see how the ball starts rolling.

My posts hadn’t gone viral. Ever. It’s all due to the friends I make.

Many people won’t reciprocate the support, most won’t reply to your message, but those who do are a treasure.
Be mindful (and even though this is also controversial): The secret to success is consistency and friendliness.

I can’t say this enough: People support their friends. True friends matter.

And finally, once you follow people (starter packs are great for this, but be mindful of who you follow) and they follow back, talk to them privately, introduce yourself and be friendly! Tell them about your books, but don’t be a walking ad, be enthusiastic and explain what you love about your art

Then, reach out to people you vibe with in your niche and book genre (readers, writers). Befriend them, support them, encourage them. Don’t wait for people to find you, find them first.

If you come across a nice person with great content, spend time with them.
Green flag: + follows than followers.

My three step system to find readers and friends alike on socials:

First, know your worth and what you bring to the table, and craft an introduction that conveys that with your vibe, explaining who you are and why you. Mine’s sweet and cozy.

I’m a niche writer (not everyone enjoys poetry) so here’s my greatest takeaway from all my years on social media:
People don’t buy a stranger’s book. You have to mean something to them, to matter so you’re someone they want to see succeed.
