Checking my commit history and it cannot be said that past me lacked a sense of humour.

Now your work actually says something, and has a coherent theme, while doing something new and interesting without being predatory.

The sad thing is, you could probably have gotten away with using it if you have voice across a fair contract limiting use of their voice in this way to this single game and then made the AI-generated versions the ROBOTS voice. (Bonus points if you train older TTS models.)

My take on the Arc Raiders AI thing is that they essentially made a game about robots replacing humanity, and an attempt to survive under their oppressive control, and then they gave the human characters AI generated voice line?

Undermining the themes of your own game to save a buck looks bad.

Having to sell the rights to your voice to a company such that once they have it they never have to pay you again is still a predatory practice and shouldn't be legally enforceable.

Frankly, the only way I see it being reasonable is if they have to pay you royalties whenever they use it.

Part of the backlash is because of changes made in that direction though right? No species of dragon is automatically evil. Drow aren't automatically evil. The 2024 manual moved stat bonuses from race to background. Etc

My greatest worry with dismissing Musk et al as misunderstanding the source material is that it ignores the actual connections and parallels between DnD's construction of race and the history of race science. They are not inventing racism where there is none, they can see the game for what it is.

True!! I don't think it's a rare experience. And honestly, the people who are upset by it do come across like babies to me. You missed the right way to go, it happens lol

I do think that the dash is maybe a little too out of the way. You have to cut through a different section of Hunter's March in order to get to it and so I can kind of see someone exhausting all options and being like, "looks like Hunter's March is the only place to go,"

This is also just assuming all your creatures are 1 creature type and none of them share a type with opponent's creatures. In a 4 player game it can just be madness.

An example:

You control one creature, 0 total, no bonus.

Two: 2 total, each gets +1/+1
Three: 6 total, each gets +2/+2

Ten: 90 total, each gets +9/+9.

And if you attack and some creatures get killed mid combat the total damage can go down significantly.

Coat of Arm's bonus grows quadratically so arguably it's more complicated than solving one linear equation. Made even harder is your creatures have varied base power and toughness or bonuses from other places.

At it's creation, the idea of printing things that weren't standard legal to start with was unheard of. The storm scale predates even the creation of commander decks. Though not un-sets so Crow Storm wouldn't violate it imo.

The direct to modern stuff is its own can of worms though.
