Honestly, I don't care what people seeking assistance at food banks do for a living, whether they work or not, what they drive, etc.

People are hungry. Give them food to eat. Plain and simple.

🚮🗑️ Fake ass jobs. Ppl submit ai resumes to be culled/reviewed by ai programs; fake postings by real companies so they can look like they’re profitable; scammers post fake jobs from real companies, hoping applicants don’t check the “careers” links on those sites to verify, and they steal app data.

My mother and I were not able to cook up all of the food from our garden. We still have collards, cabbages, kale, peppers and a few tomatoes still out there. I'm going to give this fresh food to people who will not be getting SNAP benefits on November 1.

To all those “Let them go without food for a month, maybe they’ll get a job” people: Most SNAP recipients have jobs. Exploitative jobs that keep them living just below the poverty line. — Should they starve to death? And then what?

When I worked as a legal secy, I got a part-time job after work at Walmart. The hourly rate was $7.50. If you ask abt benefits, they say, go apply for Food Stamps & Medicaid. It’s a racket. I quit out of disgust.

Do you know the local food banks or food services in case people ask? Being a point of information for folks in need is also helpful!

You can cook food for your neighbors. Set a free pantry box outside of your place. Pool money with your coworkers if someone at work has young kids or an elderly relative that likely has SNAP.

You don’t have to pry into people’s business, you can just do things & make it known help is available.

Made a similar point last week that you can make extra meals and let neighbors know that they will be available at your door at a particular date and time... Put up a flier in your building.

I forgot to mention about #ItFollows: reminds me of one of my fav art exhibits in NYC: Gormley's Event Horizons. At first, it bothered me & then I was so disappointed when the statues were removed. If not familiar, he placed human sculptures on top of buildings

Besides being excellent films/horrors - I return to #28DaysLater for Selena, to #TalkToMe for Mia, to #DoctorSleep for Abra & #AQuietPlaceDayOne for Samira. In each film, if you "reduced" it to a drama without VFX, I believe the drama: desire to fit in, to protect oneself, to be home would be strong

That's wonderful!!! Im so happy for you. I remember your posts about your previous job and whew! What we tolerate to survive is unbelievable. And leaving a toxic place doesn't solve everything because your body and mind need to heal from the trauma.

I'm free though. I'm in, what is so far, the second best job beginning I've ever had. I'm finally making very close to what I'm worth. There is no drama at my office, I deal with no residents, and I can breathe. I earned this, that's why I want to enjoy it. 😌
