I wouldn't necessarily say the movement is growing, but there is a sizeable conservative support (not unlike the US) and a subgroup of them are very much like the red hatted folks in the states.

It's very easily seen as those who like to watch certain news feeds. Very much a snowball effect. Strangest point I saw was Canadians appearing in Canadian court stating on the record that their 1st and 2nd ammendment rights were being infringed.

End of the day, the whole US thing about Panama Canal, Canada, and Greenland is all about trade routes. The US has none. If it loses control or vested interest in the Panama Canal, it needs to find something. Enter the Northwest Passage and then Canada and Greenland.
