Not to get all Gender Studies on you, but it almost vibes like there's a gender thing going on here. Real power is when you dig shit up and burn it, all manly-like, while you eat a steak and potatoes. Wind and solar just aren't muscular and dirty enough. Am I off base here? sigh

Like they think it's too expensive to move toward wind or solar, all plentiful on the Prairies, but they don't think a billion-dollar coal subsidy plus associated healthcare costs are too expensive? (Ontario decommissioned coal plants after finding that coal pollution cost the health system $1B/yr.)

The thing I find so puzzling about this kind of move is: that very same money could be used to advance green energy, which doesn't have the same environmental or health costs, is in high demand, and is inevitably the way of the future, law or no law. Why this death grip on fossil fuels?

Makes total sense. A friend of mine elsewhere said that as a person "with boobs for days" she has become more selective about the people with whom she chooses to "share her bounty." LOL But increased selectivity seems to be a common thing now regardless, you're not alone in mentioning it.
