Not crazy about Iran getting a bomb, but if Germany, Poland, Japan, and South Korea don’t get one within five years, it’s dereliction of duty by their leaders. The genie is out of the bottle and Trump has smashed the bottle.

Interesting times.

A U.S. veteran adopted an orphan from Iran. Decades later, ICE is trying to deport her The woman has no criminal record and is unsure what prompted the threat of removal. She fears being deported to Iran given her father's military service and her Christian faith.

β€œAdopted from Iran at age two, she takes great pride in her quintessential American upbringing… But in the eyes of the U.S. government…she's an immigrant who overstayed her visa… Earlier this month, she received a letter from the Department of Homeland Security saying removal proceedings have begun”

So it was all the pageantry and partisanship of a SOTU, but no proposals or policies to change anything? An elaborately wrapped empty box.

Federal Economic Analysis for Detention Site Riddled With Errors on Taxes, Jobs, Geography Document incorrectly references Oklahoma economy and inflates job numbers with theoretical positions

Special for my friends in the media!

Before you use numbers from a new DHS β€œeconomic impact analysis” in reporting on a new Trump prison camp, please consider that these reports appear to be (to use a technical term) horseshit.

Helpful explanation here:

After my son was already reading lots of SF and fantasy, I "made" him read Childhood's End and The Martian Chronicles. He was okay with them.

For the last 10 years, he recommends stuff for me to read.

Immigrant whose skull was broken in eight places during ICE arrest says beating was unprovoked A Mexican immigrant whose skull was broken during his arrest by immigration officers last month in Minnesota says the beating was unprovoked.

ICE officials said he ran into a wall, which doctors immediately rejected as inconsistent with the wounds. The immigrant's account - that he was beaten in the head by steel batons, contrary to DHS guidelines - is more plausible. But no accountability exists for him, or us.

πŸ‘€Now that ICE/DHS are planning to buy β€˜mega’ warehouse detention centers across the US to house human beings you might want to listen to this gentleman’s history lesson that he delivered at a city council meeting in AZ. Congress needs to have hearings on this like yesterday.

Minnesota needs to know the number of children in federal detention, who they are, and where they’re being held.

The only people who should be lusting after 16-year-olds are people between the ages of 15 and 18. Even then, don’t be creepy about it.

If you are outside of the β€˜half your age plus seven rule,” you are at best creepy and most likely a sick, evil abomination.

I can’t say I’m surprised, but why is Schumer not demanding Congressional and clergy access to ICE concentration camps? That’s hard to oppose and easy to demonized if GOP opposes it.

04.02.2026 01:28 β€” πŸ‘ 0    πŸ” 0    πŸ’¬ 0    πŸ“Œ 0

How about on demand access to ICE facilities by members of Congress. In theory, that’s the current law, but DOJ won’t allow it. ICE should be abolished, but opening the concentration camps to inspection would still be a good thing.

I can't help that Kentucky is deep red, but at least Sen. Paul and Rep. Massie haven't forgotten that their oath is to the Constitution, not Trump. I don't agree with Paul or Massie on much, but props to them for not being Trump sycophants.

Bilbo looking at his phone top

After all, why not? Why shouldn't I keep it?

You're absolutely right β€” you found it, it's been with you a long while, and it's only natural to feel fond of something that's served you so well, especially when someone like Gandalf suddenly seems to want it for himself.

I've been sent video from the end of the ICE raid at the Zipps on 32nd and Shea.

It shows protesters -- on the sidewalk, impeding no one -- getting drive-by maced by an ICE agent from a truck as it rolls away down the road.

Hard to see how such tactics are justifiable.

MAGA never realized how many liberals are patriots. We read the same stories they did, but weren't as sure we were as brave as those who waded ashore at Iwo Jima or flew a B-24 into German flak. Now the Twin Cities are showing that they are equal to any other generation of American patriots.

Every social theory undergirding Trumpism has been broken on the steel of Minnesotan resolve. The multiracial community in Minneapolis was supposed to shatter. It did not. It held until Bovino was forced out of the Twin Cities with his long coat between his legs.

The secret fear of the morally depraved is that virtue is actually common, and that they’re the ones who are alone. In Minnesota, all of the ideological cornerstones of MAGA have been proved false at once. Minnesotans, not the armed thugs of ICE and the Border Patrol, are brave. Minnesotans have shown that their community is socially cohesiveβ€”because of its diversity and not in spite of it. Minnesotans have found and loved one another in a world atomized by social media, where empty men have tried to fill their lonely soul with lies about their own inherent superiority. Minnesotans have preserved everything worthwhile about β€œWestern civilization,” while armed brutes try to tear it down by force.

Last week in Minnesota, I watched ordinary people risk their lives to protect their neighbors. In the process, they not only won a significantβ€”though not finalβ€”victory against authoritarianism, they proved virtually every MAGA social theory wrong.
