"Upon 1 February, when the Irish, Hebrideans, and Manx were (presumably) feasting in honour of Brigid, the British were expected to eat only bread and drink only water. Then the next day dawned and (in the words of a fourteenthcentury Shropshire monk, John Mirk) churches β€˜made great melody’"

Lookit, I’m not saying my little offering last night, clipped from my garden’s heather and berries, and placed on the liminal doormat, is what brought this break in the bad weather. But I’m not *not* saying that either, like. #Imbolc #LΓ‘FheileBrΓde #SpΓ©irGhorm

Yeah β€” I mainly use a table spoon these days. I’d usually have a fork to hand. Almost never a knife.

Funnily enough 2001 used to be on TV in the early β€˜80s as a matinΓ©e. My classmates were part-bemused, part-irritated. Also my childhood TV mornings often involved Harold Lloyd, Laurel
Hardy, and L’il Rascals

I know the final disaster at the end has memory-holed this, and also aviation’s eco-impact, but it’s odd thinking that there was a commercial aeroplane capable of such speed (in the past) and now (in the future) there isn’t.

Book marking this episode for a re-listen mid-March. It’s a goodie.

Yeah, it’s kind of like those micro-Churches you get in the US: the lines are very blurred between personality, political affiliation and religious faith.

I’d say it’s more dogmatic and ideologically driven rather than delusion. He has active support and encouragement from his family members. So he’s operating out of a group context to some degree, rather than being a complete outlier.

The Public Lending Right statements have just been issued. (Writers get a payment for every time the books are borrowed.)

Thank you to all the library users who borrowed my books over the past year. As a library user/fan myself, I am honoured to be part of the library system.

Fantastic. It can’t have been easy to get that many parliamentarians to address a rare condition in the house. Well done to all involved and to those who addressed it

Shades there of my trip to the cinema to see Netflix’s The Irishman. I took a half day from work, missed the first ten minutes and had to leg it as the credits scrolled because the kids were due to be collected from Creche. Coulda/shoulda been a 3 or 4 part limited miniseries, Netflix.

X is not valuable territory to be recaptured in a war, it is a propaganda radio station that needs to be shut down, because it is now supporting criminal activity. Tuning in to that station does nothing but boost its audience figures.

As you say, it *ludicrously raises the site’s importance.* Like folks, it’s not your national homeland or a democratic state or even a local village. It’s a private business owned by a wantonly edgelord Bajillionaire with an agenda!
