Comic Books in Ireland got a great recognition today from the National Library of Ireland discussion/presentation "Discovering Irish Comic Book History" . A bonus for me Declan Shalvey signed my Italian edition of his comic Old Dogs.

I will literally pay good money to see a movie which exposes all the tropes, every single one, mocked in this meme thread. π

Age verification? I remember when my favourite bandβs new album dropped, I walked to a bus stop, took a bus to the town centre, walked to the record shop, bought the vinyl LP, with cash money, walked back to bus stop, scrutinised the LP cover art and text on the bus, walked home, played the record.

A colourful abstract painting by Evie Hone that looks a *bit* like a fry.
Back from Sardinia but treated myself to holiday sa bhaile today, including a visit to the marvellous Mainie Jellett/Evie Hone exhibition in the National Gallery (where the Irishwoman in me can't help but see this one as a fried breakfast).

Yeah, definitely different types of heat hit harder. The availability of air con is a big thing too. For me, Itβs also the difference between not having to do a lot on holiday versus having to do a lot of work/family stuff to strict deadlines while *being baked alive*

The strange subjectivity of perceiving heat: working in Berlin in 1992, it was 35 C some days. In Arizona and California in 2008, on the road, it was even 42 C. But I was much younger and on adventures. Today itβs 27 C in work and I AM EXPIRING. π«

This greeted me this morning downstairs in the hall after the kids got in late from a sleepover at their grandparentsβ. Strange offering.

A brown spider is positioned on a light-coloured, textured surface. Its long legs extend in various directions, casting subtle shadows.
