Recognizing that the world is on fire in so many ways, just here to report that I got some speaker wire so I could set up my new stereo up in my room and I am just sitting here between my speakers feeling so great. It sounds so nice 😭😭❤️✨ I haven't had a stereo in my room since high school!

Today I met a group of emigrants from NY at an autism event for service dogs who were just so great to talk to. I've had lots of online interaction with local folks, which is nice, but in real life, much nicer ☀️ It was also good to see the dogs. (Not getting a dog, don't worry!) 🐶

If you are struggling to find the right healthcare supports for your kids in the US and your planning to emigrate out, just know you will likely have the same problems wherever you go. I'm not trying to say to not emigrate, but plan to try and fail and try and fail and keep trying. ❤️

I go to physical therapy for my plantar fasciitis every other weekday and they're just the nicest people there. I am not better yet but in the meantime I'm enjoying their Spanish lessons and kindness. ❤️🇺🇾

I found recipes in my grandmother's handwriting, recipes I've had for decades. This was really a priceless find, I'm so glad about it!

Today I was trying to get our giant suitcases tetrissed into a cabinet in our place and found my old recipe box!!! I had thought maybe it was an accidental casualty in the loads of things we gave up to come here but no, it was just inside an outer pocket of one of the suitcases the whole time. 😊☀️🥂

I haven't posted in a while, it is definitely difficult emotionally to move to a whole different continent!
However, I am feeling great today. I love my work so much also and I'm so grateful to have it and work with such excellent people. 🇺🇾☀️❤️ #leavingtheus

But really everything is ok, we are finding our way, processing all of this together! 🇺🇾☀️✨

I haven't updated in awhile, but we are doing ok here. Things are less frantic now and now it just feels like the language barrier is our hardest everyday problem. Which is a big problem but it's solvable, unlike this new blemish on my favorite coffee cup. Things like this really throw me sometimes.

I've been buying more random used things lately and I just went to pick up this mirror and the guy had noticed that my WhatsApp pic outs me as a musician (since I'm trying to find musicians here) and he gave me this record as a gift bc he never listens to it. ❤️❤️ Now I gotta get a record player!

I got to go to the feria again with youngest today and it was just so nice, I love it so much. We have been doing really well lately. ❤️ The grief we feel about leaving is real but we are not alone in it. And we're finding joy.

Listening to the MVD TV Ciudad more now that I got an antenna. It's really thoughtful, not scary, they really take time with people. Mostly I can only pick out words here and there that I understand. But it's a *totally* different vibe than US news. 🇺🇾❤️

Nearly filled my music battery this afternoon. I must have played for two hours straight. Nothing hurts either. Only way it could have been better was if it was with my music friends, but at least I got to organize some playlists and such. A rare afternoon when both kiddos are making art together! ☀️

If you take a spouse's name, you have to get your marriage certificate apostilled too!

If you're considering leaving your country for UY, I suggest being sure your name and your kids' names are the exact same across birth certificates, including your name on your kids' birth certificates, your passport, legal documents, etc. Middle names included! No variances at all.

These losses are difficult but also we're fine. I'm hoping that going forward with no restrictions, things will be a lot easier for us, but I'll also just lean on my skills in being patient and just keep trying to learn Spanish.

So I keep trying to learn more, make decisions the best I can. It's been good having help navigating it all with @esillecklarue.bsky.social but it's just one of those things we lost, ya know. BMC (in Boston) was great but they also had exceptionally bad communication in one of their departments. 🤷🏻‍♀️

Also I think systems like this are getting a lot of us Americans fleeing the US and just struggling. And so I try to have patience like they have with me and my language barrier. The cost is so much less than in the US too and we have received good care at times.

Further, I don't see the health insurance model in the US as reasonable either, and it certainly will not be getting any better over the next months/years.

Am I saying I feel like we're in the wrong place or we shouldn't have come here? Noooooo. Some people have good experiences with their affiliation to whatever system they chose. We can always try another system but that is hard too and a bit of a risk that it will be the same or worse.
