I think using the pre-74 identities (if not boundaries) would have produced some very different results esp in eg Yorkshire

I love how Ipsos show the margin of error on their charts. Should be industry standard!

Of course it would have a flag

I used to lazily believe that autocracies hosting was more common in the old days, but actually it’s a much more modern phenomenon: 1934, 1978, 2018, 2022… (esp if you leave Mexico out)

World Cup question: has a host nation ever started a war against a country due to take part in its tournament before?

thanks to you raising this, I have just learned that the DoJ was created in 1870 for the express purpose of prosecuting the KKK. How things have changed.

Perhaps it’s all rooted in some peculiar form of self-hatred

Goodwin by name, Badlose by nature

The current argument of the British right is that Muslims turned out in "blocs" with "family voting" to cast their ballots for a party led by a gay Jewish man, and this shows that multiculturalism has failed, voting is "sectarian" and we are in a crisis.

Hmmmmmm.

is that the distant, ghostly voice of Ramsay MacDonald I can hear yelping with delight?

Yup. But they are definitely choosing the first. In many respects, they're trying to unwind social changes that have been underway for 60 years. That can't be done quickly - and culture doesn't move entirely top down like that anyway.

Thoughts and prayers for Matt Badlose today

Three momentous things happened to me within a few weeks that early summer: The coalition government, my first iPhone, then the birth of my first child. Debateable which was more life-changing. My daughter is about to sit her GCSEs, although I think her smartphone may drag the results down a bit

Seeing the radical right in this country cosplay Christianity, just because that's the playbook that worked in the US, tells us that they really don't understand Britain at all

26.02.2026 19:59 β€” πŸ‘ 5    πŸ” 2    πŸ’¬ 0    πŸ“Œ 0

Yes, I always thought that lot were against that sort of thing. Mind you, could be interesting getting a job with the Regulator.

Mad to think he left the party not that long ago because it was full of racists. The money must be really good.

Is this deranged because it’s 2:30am on Sunday, or because Trump is like this all the time?

I suppose it is a kind of genius? I can’t take it seriously though. Is this how we lose? It has strong β€œDeath of Consensus” vibes.
