BOTW fans are newcomers who never once experienced a time before the Zelda Timeline.

That’s why they all sound like children.

Then comes the complaints that you can’t play the New Sages or Link.

There’s a trade off and I don’t many thought this thru.

I do wonder if they can sneak in a giant mansion for Luigi and justify it as him having several mansions to his name.

Hard agree. I guess there's enough interest in the topic that every time there's a new game or DLC there's a new crop of "here's what this means for the Zelda timeline" but a consistent, MCU-style continuity is just not what those games are doing or how the creators relate them to one another.

I really hate the fact that to a certain percentage of gamers, EVERYTHING needs to be an interconnected Universe, MCU-style.

But really, Zelda games are variations on the same basic concepts and it REALLY doesn't matter to line them up chronologically

I hope it's an Age of Calamity situation because if what I hear is true... the casual audience would be VERY disappointed as to what the game actually provided.

What are they afraid of? That the "canon" story is actually boring and make people wish the New Sages and Link went back in time to fight Ganondorf?

And to its own detriment, because there's also a dedicated fanbase that wants to play the New Sages and Link.

The fandom has turned canon from a fun thing into expectation shackles.

I honestly want them to destroy canonicity because it has been a plague among Zelda fans for decades.

People don't want to admit it, but it's this obsession with canon that led to a lot of Zelda merchandise and books being nearly lost forever because they don't "count" as important.

Evidently, huge swath of fans never learned what the Downfall Timeline was or the huge implications of how it affected what Zelda canon is.

And it's rather frustrating because the Downfall Timeline was known to be a problem, known to break the rules back in 2012.

But people forgot about the past.

I remember the Imprisoning War in the ALTTP manual too. And I remember there was only one candidate for that backstory:

Ocarina of Time.

And then I remember all the retcons that happened because OOT mucked up the events so much that it created a third what if timeline to make sense.

Just wait.

Soon there will be complaints from fans when they realize that "canon" means you don't get to play as Link or Sidon or Tulin at all.

age of imprisonment will break the timeline but don't worry it's still a canon story because the next zelda game will be in that new timeline

The Gump. Or at least, the stuffed head of a Gump brought to life by lifepowder. The book described the Gump to be elk-like, though Return to Oz famously depicted it as a green moose head. I decided to make the Gump look like a hybrid of the two.

Me wonder if he survived in the anime as well.

It's always been like for over a hundred years.

And there's a reason why Hollywood tries to bury the rest of the Oz franchise by harping on the MGM movie.

When all the trans panic of this current political climate ends (and it inevitably will, mark my words), I want somebody to make a film starring Ozma and not hold back on any of the trans themes.
