what makes Americans think they won't be next? That's the absurdity of this. Americans seem to think they're perpetually invincible. You might have the biggest military might now but what will happen when Russia swallows Europe (which has lots of US military equipment) and joins with China.

One year ago today, I drove to Chester, PA, to pick up this poor pup who had been found roaming the streets, so she didn’t end up in a shelter. It wasn’t meant to be permanent, but we fell in love with her. One year later she’s a happy spoiled girl. Here are some pics of her Gotcha day.

Maya, my Bal Dutchie mix next to Echo (lying down). She is so sweet and puts up with so much from Echo and Bean (Echo's biological sister who is in my profile pic).

They are beautiful

Here Echo (lying down) is with Maya. Maya is 55% Mal and 45% Dutchie according to her Embark DNA test. She looks fierce but she is the sweetest, kindest dog. She puts up with a lot from Echo and Bean (my third Mal, and Echo's biological sister).

Oligarch Musk thinks illegal drugs are subject to tariffs.

So a 25% tariff on Canada is gonna result in a huge increase in gasoline prices because we get 60% of our crude oil from Canada. The hike won't be limited to Canadian crude, refineries will hike prices across the board regardless of where they get their crude, because that's how tariffs work.

Fucking great. I am on the board of a local nonprofit led by an amazing black woman who has made it her life's work to fight the effects of systemic inequality for all the disenfranchised. She is creative at sourcing funding, excellent at building support networks and works tirelessly.

Makes me sad re-reading this amazing letter from ex-Watergate Special Prosecutor Archibald Cox sent to high school seniors in 1994 after they asked him “What should Americans learn from Watergate?” 20 years later in ‘94.

His answer is remarkable—unfortunately things didn’t work out so well in 2024.
