Emerging Faces has come to be seen as one of the first instances of painting autonomously created by a robotic system, but this has never satisfied me because we don't know what autonomy means. Perhaps art is always approaching a recursive horizon of emergence, always embodying this threshold.

Breaking footage of the moment my latest autonomous artist rejects painting, and decides that all it wants to do is dance.

Over past decade, Emerging Faces has been in exhibitions around the world including New York, London, Berlin, and Seoul. For next two weeks it is on display at Christie's Rockefeller Plaza.

This is something I heard multiple times in my calls with Harold Cohen, in a tone of disgust. My attempts to change his mind never worked, but eventually led to the Emerging Faces series.

Just slap somethin on it when you see a blank canvas staring at you with a sort of imbecility.
