glad you had fun! I really wanted to go, but work stuff came up :/

After writing that I might revise my grades to a C and a D-. But it'll probably waver back and forth

I don't regret seeing it and had some legitimate while watching it, but looking back in it it feels hollow.

Final summary: it wasn't super cringe, but it wasn't much else either.

As film I rate it a C+
As a Tron film I give it an F

It wouldn't be so bad if it were a side story, like an episode of a Tron version of Animatrix. But as a mainline story it feels a bit like a JJ Abrams-esque derailment.

It just didn't feel like a Tron movie (I don't think the word Tron was ever uttered in the script).

That said, as a standalone sci fi romp, it was reasonably good fun, but all character developmemt was done in exposition, so ultimately I didn't really have any attachment to anyone

Lots of fan service, some of which was done legitimately well, but ultimately the movie had very little connection to previous movies in lore or gravitas. I had big issues with a couple of Legacy's plot points, but the movie at least developed them fully and made them feel meaningful

There were some aspects of the production/effects that were genuinely inspired, and it was a fairly fun in the moment, but ultimately empty experience. It felt like a mediocre self-insert fan film that somehow pulled a ton of talent on the production.

I saw it. Am also big Tron stan (especially the original) Do you want my opinion?

This is inspiring me to work on an update of my OG lizardy sona that goes all the way back to like 2001. I always remembered seeing your character and feeling some kindred-ness because of similarities in the character design!
