Wed 10/29 at 7 PM, Democracy Helpers will host a HYBRID meeting at WNDC for:
Identifying and staffing important final election activities.
Coordinating upcoming events.
Determining ways Democracy Helpers can be helpful until we start ramping up for midterms.

Grassroots Alexandria Monthly Action Meeting! When: Thursday September 4, 7-9pm Where: 3801 Mt Vernon Ave (TWU building), 22305 What: This will be a joint meeting of project leaders and team members working on Alexandrian Human Rights, Education, Environment, Housing Equity, and Transportation Equity. We will be updating each other on immediate concerns, such as participation in local protests, local school policies, housing policy, and human rights initiatives. We will discuss ongoing projects: "community voices," local tenant rights, climate/transportation/equity, protecting immigrants form ICE, policing, Palestinian human rights, and much more. At our meeting, we will check in with each other, hear from project leaders, and consider next steps. Everyone is encouraged to attend and ask questions. People who would like to participate in the GrA Reading Group can share a thought or two about the latest reading during check-in. We will be discussing chapters 17-20, of On Tyranny, by Timothy Snyder.

Because local community leaders arrived after the fact, we have very little information.
But we know that today's ICE rarely bothers to get a warrant signed by a judge. Instead, they use an "administrative warrant," signed by an ICE agent.
Unlike Alexandrians, ICE has little respect for the law

Yesterday, ICE grabbed 4 men from a roofing crew of 12. The rest went home. Today, the building is without shingles or workers. We need more action against ICE.
