Jayme Lawson from Sinners hit the nail on the head and said how I felt with the whole BAFTAs situation.

@zackpolanski.bsky.social : "Once again Reform are spreading misinformation & smears, and the press & the media seem to repeat them.. its really important that the media.. take responsibility so when Reform or Farage says something they don't just keep repeating it"πŸ‘πŸ‘πŸ‘

Tomorrow night we have the debut of a play called 'Old Monsters: Bela and Boris' all about the relationship between Bela Lugosi and Boris Karloff.

It is a script reading by regulars well-known to the bookshop.

If you watch anything today, please watch Cody, waxing lyrical against Jim Ratcliffe and all billionaires.

This isn't just a message for Britain, this is a message for all western countries who all have the same problem! Mainly billionaires sucking the life out of economies for their own greed!

Yes, that's what worries me most: if they get in, they'll try to fix things so they're in power for ages.

With how much the UK is run by convention & not actual law, it's a truly worrying prospect. As you say the US is a cautionary tale: left still trying to "win clean" against right fighting dirty

Edited version of The Daily Heil's "Beware the Green Menace" with their logo edited out.

Edited version of The Daily Heil's "Beware the Green Menace" with their logo edited out.

I'm not a graphic designer, hence the obvious botch-job on paint.

But, genuinely, if someone were to do a t-shirt with a better (and non-Daily-Heil-copyrighted) version of this, I would buy it.

The Green victorv in Denton is the result which will have the biggest effect on Labour. far more so than a Reform win.
The blithe assumption progressives have nowhere else to go has been proved catastrophically wrong.
Can't help thinking of this quote from a Labour minister. a vear ago...

A saving grace, some ministers believe, is that the Greens are underperforming. "I think we are extraordinarily fortunate that the Green party are shit,' one minister said,
"If they had any kind of charismatic or populist leadership we'd be eight to 10 points further down the polls. I would still believe we could squeeze that vote if it came to it, but we should be aware that they may be voters who simply will not turn out for us."

Bc it's all they've got & the only way they know how to do politics, Labour ran an entirely negative campaign of outrageous fear mongering & scurrilous lies against the Greens rather than throwing everything into defeating Reform & as per usual it feel to the left to stop the fash

True, but I think it will also be fatal for Reform in the long run.

Their points are already starting to drop bc of how badly they run their local councils - bc they weren't properly questioned and scrutinised, people are now seeing what they really are by actions, not words, which they can't spin.

One casualty of the racialisation of class: people fail to recognise that most Bangladeshi and Pakistani people in Britain are working class

That they have the highest rates of poverty

And that historically economic and related factors have been the key driver of their voting behavior

I welcome interviewing like this, because:

1. If it gets too agressive, it puts ppl on the interviewee's side
2. A truly principled politician will not be flummoxed, will have answers, and those answers will impress and resonate with the audience.

Mr. Polanski has done an excellent job here.

I saw an advert where the protagonists were bosses of a company who just fired a guy, then realised he held all of their knowledge, but they're able to set up a system so this won't happen again and they celebrate, and it just made me think the product and customer base are dickheads.

There's been a lot of rumour that they'll be revising it and bringing it back in Stovold's revised rules, 2026.

It's an outrage. Broken Britain.

Does anyone read these descriptions, or am I wasting my time?

Americans love to pronounce Jimmy Savile as "Jimmy Seville" which is what I think The Man from Del Monte's real name was.

(cont.)The UK offers so much more than monarchy. It is laughable to suggest that people will stop coming here bc one family, that you can't see even when you visit royal sites, has had its legally-enshrined wealth & privilege taken away.

+ do we want our society's values decided by tourists anyway?

Fed up of the BS claim "monarchy brings in tourism".

Even if VisitBritain's claim that it brings Β£500m p.a. was true (it isn't) UK's total tourism revenue is calculated at Β£127bn.

France has some of the world's most visited attractions (Louvre, Versailles, Eiffel). Famously, no monarchy. (1/2)

Producers at that point still compartmentalised: this was a kids' story for kids' consumption, so it had to be as pantomime as possible.
