Following a successful effort by bill authors Massie & Khanna to get 218 mbrs to sign their discharge petition to force a fllor vote, GOP leaders scheduled a vote today.

All 3 Senate-passed joint resolutions to end Trump's tariffs now head to the House, which voted along party lines in September to block any floor votes on repealing Trump’s tariffs until January 31.

51-47: Senate votes to end the national emergency declared by President Trump on April 2 to impose global tariffs. Republicans Collins, McConnell, Murkowski and Paul. Senators earlier this week voted to repeal Trump's tariffs on Brazil 52-48 and Canada 50-46.

House holds another brief session today at 2pm but no votes will take place, cancelled by GOP ldrs,who await Senate action to vote to reopen the gov’t.Rep-Elect Grijalva won’t be sworn in despite continued calls by Jeffries & House Dems.

As for the floor agenda, Senators will vote throughout the day on more of Trump’s U.S. District Court nominees for Northern Alabama, Central Florida and Montana. A revote on the short-funding bill is currently not scheduled for today, but could still happen.

It’s Gov’t Shutdown Day 21. Senate GOP will meet for lunch with President Trump in the WH Rose Garden, the day after most Senate Democrats voted against advancing the House-passed GOP short-term funding bill for an 11th time. Dems continue to call for extending expiring ACA tax credits.

Ryan (D-NY) & Sempolinski (R-NY) both won special elections August 23, 2022 & were sworn in together on Sept. 13, 2002. Peltola (D-AK), who was also sworn in that day with them, won a special election August 16. x.com/craigcaplan/...

By the end of next week, Senators agreed to hold floor debates and votes on legislation to end the global tariffs against Brazil and Canada. A vote could also be in the coming weeks on ending military strikes near Venezuela against alleged drug boats in the Caribbean unauthorized by Congress.

Senators may also vote on a bill by Sen. Ron Johnson (R-WI) and other Republicans to pay federal employees and military servicemembers who have been required to work during the gov't shutdown now in its 20th day.

Later this week, Senators will vote on more of Trump's U.S. District Court nominations for North Alabama, Central Florida, Eastern Kentucky and Montana.

It's Gov’t Shutdown Day 20. Only the Senate's back in session today & will vote at 5:30pm for the 11TH time on whether to advance House-passed GOP short-term funding bill. And with 60 votes needed, it's expected to fail again w/only Republicans & the same few Dems & King-I planning to support it.

Legislation directing the FEMA Administrator to "continue to obligate and disburse covered funds in the Disaster Relief Fund" and 'to reimburse certain expenses" during the gov't shutdown was introduced during Friday's House pro forma session.

Takano & other Democrats also introduced legislation Friday to prohibit the display of permanent or semipermanent display or engraving of names of individuals or corporations on WH grounds without approval from the Speaker, Minority Leader, and White House Curator.

Rep. Mark Takano (D-CA) along with several other Democrats introduced legislation to ban "the use of federal funds for construction or renovation on the White House grounds" during the shutdown.

Government shutdown continues & the House has not held votes for now 1 month since Sept. 19, but members are still introducing bills to help federal agencies & departments impacted by the lapse in funding, while restricting funds to others, per Friday's Congressional Record.
