I just woke up from the strangest dream. I started in an airport where I was picked up by an eclectic group of people I used to know. We stopped at a hotel, hosting more people I used to know. From there we ended up walking down a snowy field into a convention center, with EVERYONE I've ever known.

I have a problem. I recently discovered BrickLink Studio, for Lego, and it's been eating the time I should be using for sleep. It's 8 hours of sleep per week, right?

Holiday travel plans fell through—super sad about it—so I'm making an extra fancy New Year's Eve dinner for three. I should have invited more people.

All that's left is roasting the chicken and asparagus, reheating and seasoning the potatoes, and toast the baguette.

I'll post photos next year. ;P

There's a scientist/inventor out of the UK. He makes videos for educational purposes, & freely teaches anyone who has the curiosity to learn. I have tremendous respect for what he does, so I thought I'll paint a portrait of him. It's in progress—red underpaint, b&w structure, & color glaze to come🎨🖌️

I forgot to open the shutters of his favorite window yesterday morning. Poor pup kept trying to use his X-ray vision to no avail. He was up there a good half hour, too.

I really like going to the Heavy Metal discord chat drawing group, Thursdays, at 10 PM ET. Tonight, I couldn't think of something original to draw so I drew a horse – kind of overdone, I know. It would probably benefit from a blending stick and a softer graphite pencil but not if it's just a sketch.

I had a day-long conversation with ChatGPT this week. In short, I asked what would happen if everyone has free access to nutritious food (grown autonomously) and free energy. Either corporations or the super-rich power hungry people would try to take it away, OR we'd develop into a Star Trek utopia.

With age I find myself losing my grace more often. It is difficult not to judge ignorant people and hold my tongue. I do not want to bottle up my anger, nor fall into apathy. I suppose I struggle to forgive because there is no repentance. Teaching seems a reasonable recourse – it is that or madness.

Perspective is a concept that's incredibly difficult to teach, specifically when one isnt open to seeing things from unfamiliar or unrelatable positions. Most issues could be resolved completely if time was invested to understand opposition. Alas, tribalism divides more tribes than any true villain.

Today I give thanks for the roof over my head, the food in our kitchen, a warm bed, a clean bathroom, my arms & legs, eyes & ears, thumbs & fingers, teeth & tongue. I can remember 20 years ago, 20 days ago, & 20 minutes ago. I give thanks to be married to my wife, & to live my life. I am grateful :)
