I am appalled by the lack of care shown to children by the adults in charge here (in the US)

My squish mallow obsession has evolved

Instead of window shopping, I now keep pics of cute ones on a Pinterest board and I have a widget that cycles through each one and showcases them on my home screen

It scratches the itch and a pattern has emerged: I loooove the ones holding food/coffee

(This tracks with my work bag being enormous. Of course I want all my stuff with me, but not when I also have to carry kids' stuff!)

Why do I put as much of my life on my phone as possible? (Vs notebooks, lists, journal)

Because kids require so much stuff, I'm not packing a whole bag for myself if it fits on my phone 😂

I showed my 3yo a picture of me and her aunt and she asked what the little bit of sign was. I said it's a sign to tell people what we think the problem is. She's like "problem?? Like scary monsters??" I'm like, basically!!

Having kids really makes you question some things you thought you knew. Like how to pronounce legume.

May we raise kids who are willing to lose friendships that aren't good for them. Not overly sensitive easily offended kids, but kids who are willing to set boundaries and follow through if they're not respected.

May we raise kids who respect each others' boundaries, too.

Counting opportunities I just took or passed up at bedtime with my 3yo: count the 3 books we're going to read as often as makes sense (did this)

She asked to play for 5 minutes. The clock said :51. I could have showed her on my fingers 1+1,2,3,4,5=6 so when we see a 6, it's time to stop.

Questions I regularly ask my kid about the stories he/we read to make language arts really easy for him later:

What was the setting, like, where did the story mostly happen?

Occasionally I become allergic to being awake and this is one of those times. I blame The Residence. Early to bed tonight!

How did I get so incredibly blessed to have a dramatic, silly voice, dance party lovin' enchanting little 3 year old and science minded, flair for the dramatic, bibliophile, incredibly helpful with dishwasher and laundry 7 year old?

I am WAY less of an overthinker and way more of a flexible thinker than I used to be, but something about going on vacation shakes me EVEN FARTHER out of inflexible overthinking! 🥳🙌

I wonder what it's like to watch a sportsball game with a professional announcer but it's on their personal time, like, you're their friend at a bar or their kid at their house. Do they turn it off? Do they watch in silence? Do they sound like any fan, but just a little more so? 🧐😂🤷‍♀️

One of the dumb reasons I'm doing this dumb thing where I can only do 40 dumb minutes of social media a day is that I learned in my coaching certification the concept that you're only "hungry" for so much dopamine and if you "fill up" on scrolling you like, won't care to do your laundry 🙄🤦‍♀️😮‍💨
